Well, I read many threads, but I didn't find anything with 7-z's portability.
Just want to know if it's portable, and where I can get a portable one if there is.
By the way, can anyone tell me how to create a zip with 7-z?
The official site said it supports to pack a zip, but I still don't know how to do it after checking the whole program.
But it is with the launcher I wrote for it. I was planning on releasing it soon anyway. I'll post it tomorrow.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Woot! New app! (lol)
WOW! Can't wait!
And how about the 2nd question? Does anyone know it?
portable 4.32 version
http://fredericcombe.free.fr/download/portablesoft/tuxmouraille/Portable...
~GUI
Open up '7zFM.exe' in the 7-Zip directory. Go to the file/folder you want to compress. Click 'Add (+)'. Choose .7z, .zip, etc. for a normal archive. Or, for a self-extracting one, check the 'Create SFX Archive' option.
~Command Line
Use 7z.exe; you'll have to Google the switch list.
Gee! Thanks a lot.
There comes an error message ... something like "reg file could not be created" if you close 7zip
Anyone planning to make an english version of 7zip?

I did read the whole thread, just didn't read the names of the posters and thought that this is the same person who has posted the french version
I can't wait for it, either.

that version is a multi languages version (more than 20 languages)
based on last official version : 4.32
He is very right. I tried it and it works like a charm...
Found this in there, too.
"PROGRAM HISTORY / ABOUT THE AUTHORS
===================================
John T. Haller was the original author of Portable VLC, from which the most important part of this code was copied. Rob Loach made several modifications to Portable VLC to make it accomodate making WackGet portable, and then Tuxmouraille used it with him portablegrisbi script to make Portable7zip. All credit should go to John T. Haller."
Thought it might be of some interest.

Whoah, thanks for that link!

I think one part is changing the default "Working folder" location from "System temp folder" to "Current" at
Tools\Options\Plugins\Options\Folders
But I think there is another change where an .ini file is ultimately created...
Is the release of this in sight?
Any updates as to when the official PortableApps version of Portable7zip will be released?
Just made a new splash screen and tried to recompile the English nsi file but get this error:
MessageBox: 48: "7zFM.exe was not found. Please check your configuration"
Abort: ""
StrCmp "$DISABLESPLASHSCREEN" "true" equal=SkipSplashScreen, nonequal=
InitPluginsDir
File: "Portable7zip.jpg"->"$PLUGINSDIR\splash.jpg" [compress] 49747/75858 bytes
Invalid command: ipicsplash::show
Error in script "H:\Portable7zip-4.32-fr-0.3.0.4\Portable7zipCode\Portable7zip-0.3.0.4-en.nsi" on line 165 -- aborting creation process
Line 165 reads:
ipicsplash::show 3000 600 400 0x04025C "$PLUGINSDIR\splash.jpg"
Can anyone let me konw what i need to do to fix it?

Actually, you should get the NewAdvSplash plugin.
That's the new version

OK, Lurking Biohazard if there's a nerd here then it must be you stupid ---!
If you had followed what had been going on regarding this thread, you wouldn't have written a brainless comment like yours.
Is this the official Lurking Biohazard thread? Bloody Hell no! So if you don't have anything constructive to say, dry up!
I edited my post which originally was very long, I just couldn't find a way to delete it in the first place so I just kept it and mentioned the fact the file had multiple languages included.
This was the original text:

7zip/Portable7zip-4.32-fr-0.3.0.4.zip... ( Loads of languages included BTW not just French )
I don't know, but you see for me calling an application "Portable" means it doesn't write anything to the registry. I have tried porting a couple of applications using QuickPortTemplate with PortableNSIS 1.5 ( thanks Deuce! ) and succeeded in a way. What I mean is this, whenever you launch 7zip ( in this case ) registry entries are made and whenever you exit the program, those entries are erased and saved locally ( [settings] 7-zip.reg ) fine!
OK, now I know this way you'll be able to keep your settings no matter which host computer you use but correct me if I am wrong, don't you need Admin privileges to be able to access/write to the registry? I mean applications that require those privileges.I'd like to be able to use those portable applications as "Guest User" not as Administrator.
The thing I am really looking forward is the so-called virtual registry ( Thinstall and hopefully mkPort pretty soon Smiling )

Now, f*ck off!
Nerd is the user that posted above you. Do you really think that calling me a nerd would bother me?! You're funny!
Your edit just rehashed what had already been said before in this thread.
How old are you? 12? Grow up.

Alright, I am not 12 nor 42 but one thing I can do is being helpful and saying something like "This has been said already" just confirms the fact that you're not that kind.
I should have looked above regarding ( Nerd ), granted my bad. I really wanted to help here in translating apps/guides/tutorials seeing the fact that I speak 6 languages ...
Anyway, that was my last post here.
We could stop calling names, put this behind us as a misunderstanding, and move foward.

Just like I said, my bad.
Now how on earth can I edit my previous posts, man this forum is peculiar...
Don't worry, I can't edit some of my posts right now, either.
John might have changed something. Anyway, he will filter anything not wanted. I just don't like leaving it all on him...

Well, before you start advocating anyone you should learn English grammar first ( replied and not replyed )
I wasn't complaining about anything, it was just a sort of misunderstanding and I wanted to take those "bad" words back but I simply couldn't edit my post.
lock this thread, its all a bit unnecessary now

Hi all,
If anybody is interested, I've made a portable version of the 7z beta, with self-contained settings and even works on a "Instant" mode like Instant Filezilla. If you put the files in a similar configuration to other portable apps hosted here, it will act as a launcher, otherwise it will work as a self-contained app. This is so that if you have a newer version before I release one, it you just set it up yourself.
It will work side-by-side with an existing copy installed on the host computer, saving the host machines settings before applying its own, and restoring them when 7z closes.
John: Is it ok that I used the PortableApps.com splash screen? If not, please let me know and I'll change it. I'll also post the source code on the website for the launcher, and will put up a launcher-only version soon.
Edit: Rearranged the website, so some links had changed, and more stuff put up...

Not a bad 1st one, Peter, not bad at all. I'll post more details in your other thread. Also, I've posted my 7-Zip Portable 4.42 Pre-Release so we can see if there's anything else not covered by mine or vice versa. We'll comment in your other thread on any differences and in my thread for anything missing from mine.
