Mime settings

When I double click on some attachements a window appears asking for the application to open the attachement with. One of the options is a check box that says "Do this automaticaly for files like this from now on". In some cases this check box is greyed out.

How can change this so that I can launch that type of attachement with a specific application each time?
Thank a lot

Edit Actions

Check "Download Actions", located in: Tools > Options > Attachments > View & Edit Actions...

Also, check the preference: "browser.helperApps.neverAsk.openFile" to see if there is a list of MIME types (separated with commas) to open files automatically, without asking for confirmation. The default value is an empty string.

Plus, you may check the preference: "browser.helperApps.neverAsk.saveToDisk". Just in case. The default value is, too, an empty string.

Both of those preferences are

Both of those preferences are blank - as you say the default.
The "Download Actions" now are correct. But, I am now only using windows default mime settings.
I think that this problem was due to the corrupted mimeType.rdf file which is now o/k.
Thanks anyway.
