PAM Mod behaving differently on different machines

Hi All,

I'm using PAM Mod V1.1 locale English R30 and are finding that PAM behaves differently on different machines.

The two things that I have noticed are;

1) Not all applications set to auto start does so on different machines, i.e. TBP would start on machine A (almost without fail) but never (auto) starts on machine B.

2) The sort order of categories is different from machine to machine, i.e. (dir) "FFP" appears above the (dir) "Copy of FFP" on the one machine and visa versa on the other machine.

Is it a design feature to be able to have different behaviour for different machines or do I have a problem?

Regards
Paul

Try R34

I'm not sure about the different order you are experiencing, but the Mod is up to version R34. You'll get some fixes and new features.

Autostarting on different machines might be the result of different settings on the machines themselves and has nothing to do with the menu system.

Thanks

Thanks Jim,

I will download these and see if it fixes the discrepancies.

As PAM is determining which applications to autorun (i.e. autorun when PAM is started, not autorun when inserting the USB HDD) so I'm expecting the same behaviour on both machines.

I'm also assuming that R34 will be replaced with the next release of PAM as the teams are working together. Is this a correct assumtion?

We're all forked

Well, the R34 Mod Menu is a fork of the original (official) PortableApps.com Menu. Since it has been updated many times already, it is quite a ways further along than than the original.

That said, the people who have been working on the various forks have gotten behind the original menu. They are going to gradually modify the original code to bring it up to the state of the forks. Might even surpass the forks, but it isn't going to happen overnight. Also something to keep in mind is that the different forks have their own feature sets, and if everything gets put into the original, it will be more advanced than any of the forks individually.

Those who have been using the original menu and forgoing the mods will be very happy to get features that others have enjoyed for a while. Those who have been using the mods will have to evaluate if the new original is something they want to use or if they want to stick with what they have until the original is sufficiently advanced.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Yes, this is my understanding and I have been evaluating each of the PAM releases but keep on coming back to R-range mods.

I'm hoping the next release of PAM will be the one for me as my needs aren't that complicated.
