Pidgin vs aMSN

Hello,

I am new to PortableApps and this is my first post.

I tested Pidgin and aMSN, both new for me because I only use WLM.

One problem with Pidgin is that PIDGINLANG must be set to zh_TW in order to send Chinese characters; otherwise I can’t see the characters I am sending myself (the contact receives the right characters, but I only see strange square symbols).

But specifying zh_TW means that the whole interface is changed to Chinese, and this is not what I wanted.

Since all my contacts are MSN users and aMSN is much closer to WLM/MSN, I decide to use aMSN.

If you only use the MSN

If you only use the MSN protocol, you should use aMSN because:
1st: It's smaller (I reckon)
2nd: If you aren't using any other protocol, why the hell you should use a program with capability of using them & not to delete them? (this one don't refers to mirandaIM, though you aren't asking for it)

I Beg to Differ

1. Pidgin can actually be a lighter installation if you don't install translations.
2. The fact that the other protocols are their seems irrelevant. Just because you can't delete a 50KB plugin doesn't mean anything. Miranda IM / Pidgin may have some cooler features that aMSN does not.

However, these are my two points.

1. aMSN may / does have more MSN protocol specific features (webcam, nudges, emoticons, etc).
2. aMSN may / does(?) have a more stable and more often later version of the protocol than Pidgin as Pidgin has various protocols to focus on with few developers.

Also, would you please remove those links from your signature. Only because it's cluttered and stuff like that can simply be put on your user page instead. Thanks!
