When using my current version of Thunderbird Portable, 2.0.0.17, a message popped up announcing update to 2.0.0.18. I didn't let it update manually since there are known bugs with updating a portable app, and not only that, but I had trouble when I let firefox portable update itself before I knew of the bugs.
I went to portableapps.com and checked for the new update for thunderbird, but it was not there. When will it be available?
Hi Briguy is I and Welcome to PortableApps.com
Thunderbird 2.0.0.18 will be available in the next few days. At the moment the major focus is on the alpha release of the next PortableApps.com menu so when th at is released you can expect TBP to follow soon after.

Hi there!
First I want to thank you guys for all your work on TBP.
Now I want to bring back in mind that there was trouble with the locales with the TBP-installer 2.0.0.17 at least with the German version (see: https://portableapps.com/node/15956 ) I would be glad if there was a fix with the next release.
Thanks again!
The GPG issue will be fixed in 2.0.0.18. As to the language issue, the installer and launcher don't do anything new that would touch your profile in a way to mess up the languages used.

Hi John,
thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the language issue still persists with TBP 2.0.0.18 which I have installed minutes before. I have not found anything that might have changed since 2.0.0.16 and that could affect the localization.
Does anybody have an idea what there goes wrong since 2.0.0.17?
Regards
Volker
Ok, I'm gonna need some actual details. First, are you installing the German version directly from here? Second, are you installing it to the recommended location (X:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable)? Third, what extensions are having this issue so we can try to recreate this (be specific)?

Hey John,
I hope these details might help in locating this issue:
1. Yes, I am installing the German version directly from here, to be concrete, from the German language page of Thunderbird Portable at portableapps.com
2. First I installed TBP in a Desktop-Folder, but I now tried D:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable which brings up the same issue. So, the folder location doesn't matter.
3. Here is a list of affected extensions I use (extracted out of Add-Ons-Menu in TBP):
- .vcs Support 0.6
- Enigmail 0.95.7
- ImageZoom 0.3.1
- lightning 0.9
- Mnenhy 0.7.5.666
- MoreFuctionsForAdressBook 0.5.3.1
- Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1
- ThunderBirthday 0.2.8.1
- WebMail 1.3.2
- WebMail - Hotmail 1.2.19b49
- WebMail - Yahoo 1.3.4
NOT affected extensions are:
- Automatic Export [de] 0.3.1
- FG Printers [de] 0.4.4
- MinimizeToTray [de] 0.0.1.2006102615+
Note that not affected extenstions always have the right localization abbreviation in brackets. What makes these extensions special?
The DESCRIPTIONS of THEMES I have installed (but do not use) in the Add-ons-Themes-list are also in English now:
- Silvermel 1.0.3
- Simple Green 1.1.20080123
and also the description of the Thunderbird Default Theme (2.0)
The mail-interface is still in German language.
Just to make another thing clear: I am using TBP since an earlier version (2.0.0.12?) and installed mentioned extensions thereafter. I updated TBP from this time on always with the new releases of the German version of TBP from portableapps.com. After these updates there have never been problems with the language of the extensions up to TBP 2.0.0.16. The 'language issue' first occured with the release of TBP 2.0.0.17.
So, thank you very much John for taking care,
kind regards,
Volker
Ok, I just figured it out. It's a single incorrect file which keys the extensions to the locale. I'll need to do a revision (which sucks) but I want to make sure our non-English users are having things working right. I'm building it now.

It's done and posted to the homepage. This fixes the issue and the build scripts have been updated to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Hi John,
thanks so much for your quick solution!!!
Everything is fine right now!
Enjoy your weekend,
Volker
Thats a really nice and detailed error report!
If everyone would do it like you......
And its even better that John figured out the error

THX for the error report and the quick solution!
Paid for Software more or less?
What You need is OSS!
Where do we get the plain 2.0.0.18 ? not Rev2 ...
OR "older versions" ?
The TBP download does not have a link like FF does.
Atleast that I seen.
on our Sourceforge page.
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
Awesome thanks! I could not find it.
And as far as the English version,
there is no difference between
2.0.0.18, and 2.0.0.18 Rev2 ?
Makes me wonder why the Rev2 for English.
There isn't any difference but it says it right on the news page:
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
See that is why I wanted the 2.0.0.18. not Rev 2.
Users of the English package do not need to upgrade from 2.0.0.18.
Thanks again.
But you can just as easily install 2.0.0.18 Rev 2 as it is the exact same app. That note about not needing to upgrade was so a user who already DID install 2.0.0.18 doesn't need to then download and install 2.0.0.18 Rev 2. Why dig back and work to find 2.0.0.18 when it gives you the same app?
