NoScript
Web of Trust
Redirect Remover - FF3 & above.
Perspectives - FF3 & above.
Hey is WOT similar to or like Mcafee site advisor ?
That looks popular, and rated highly.
Web of Trust shares many similarities with Site Advisor.
WOT is rated by USERS. Therefore it isn't really trustworthy because people can just rate it on whether they like the site or not... Not if it is safe... Mcafee is better because a unbiased company rates the sites.
iLike Macs, iPwn, However you put it... Apple is better ^_^

FEBE for firefox backups
Download statusbar - this can be configured to have Clamwin scan your downloads, link is under Clamwin in forum.
Flashblock - blocks flash contained in web pages.
NoScript- blocks malacious scripts from webpages.
Thunderbird biff - an add on that notifies you of mail in Thunderbird. (Thunderbird has to be open to work. This works assuming you have it minimized.)
Stealthier - An addon to prevent others from seeing where you've browsed. Cleans or prevents browser tracks. Turns off java, turns off cookies, etc.
"Flashblock - blocks flash contained in web pages.

Actually that is bad advice because those two scripts are incompatible with each other...NoScript already blocks flash.
Anyway, NoScript is a good extension but it is problematic just as AdBlock Plus is.
Stealthier is a good extension which I would recommend.
Official List from Mozillazine of Problematic Extensions:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
Most Noteable:
AdBlock Plus (I still use it but I do have the settings tweak based on this list)
NoScript (I use it on a few installations...to be honest this extension is incredibly annoying...useful for power users at times but for casual users it is an extreme bother.)
Fasterfox (actually slows Firefox down instead of what it is suppose to do...ironic huh)
I dont use many extensions on my portable install so I dont remember all the ones I have on my home pc but I'll reply or edit here again next time I am there to give my suggestions.
Oh wait FastDial...thats one...very useful...works kind of like Opera's Speed Dial

Heya there. Could I get you to remove the links from your signature as they are not permitted however one link is allowed in the 'Homepage' field which will show up beside your username. Thanks!
Like JRViejo I'd say AdBlock plus. To me it's as essential as anti-virus software and just like AV software it needs to be kept up to date. Ads are viral. My block list incluses stuff that many here would accept. For example, as I'm typing this reply I can see a Google ad, which if I were in an environment where I could use my portableapps USB I wouldn't be seeing because my personal Firefox AdblockPlus list includes Google Analytics. (I'm harsh with what I allow to be displayed on my monitor.)
Then I'd want GreaseMonkey. Helps me exclude stuff that I can't easily remove with AdBlockplus (for example the "Sponspored Links" heading about the Google Ad). Helps include stuff that incompetent web designers have forgotten, for example I use flickr regularly but a recent change has hidden stuff that used to be on the front page so with GreaseMonkey I put them back in.
But if I have GreaseMonkey I'd want Platypus! as well; sometimes it is easier to hack up trivial GreaseMonkey scripts with Platypus! rather than writing them by hand.
These are the add-ons installed on my home system; I want the same when out and about with portableApps at a client site.
Foxmarks - great for syncing all my bookmarks
Tiny Menu - gives you more real estate for FFX & not the button/menu bars
Oldbar - I hate the new FFX url bar! ! !
New Tab Button - puts the New Tab button back where it belongs in FFX 3.1
I have others but those are my favorites.
"New Tab Button - puts the New Tab button back where it belongs in FFX 3.1 "
Actually all you have to do to make a new tab is middle click on the Homepage Icon which is on the left next to the address bar.
Middle Click = Pressing down on the Scroll Wheel if you have a mouse that has one.
Also middle clicking anything will make a new tab for whatever you clicked but for just a starter tab the home icon works best.

Thanks for the info RottNKorpse. That's one less FFX add-on
Middle Click = Pressing down on the Scroll Wheel if you have a mouse that has one.
That is not true of all mice.

A wheel click registers as a middle click to the operating system. What happens from there is up to the mouse driver.
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/3271&cl=us,en
A wheel click means nothing to the OS since there is no information sent to it. There is a scroll wheel, but no button underneath.
Hyper-fast scrolling: Fly through long documents at hyperspeed with the nearly frictionless scroll wheel, or shift instantly to precise scrolling.
I didn't say anything about the OS, the driver, or anything about software of any kind.

I've got some sort of Logitech cheapo mouse & the scroll wheel does in fact click and so does my VX Nano.

I never said it didn't click.

Ctrl-T works too. I find the open tab button a waste of space, really (I removed it).

For a portable setup, FEBE can be quite useful.
Of course, don't just get the essentials. I personally have 76 extensions enabled and my profile is miles away from the stock Firefox.

I download a lot.
