My guess is that this is due to rounding.
Ask windows what you have, right click on the drive icon, then select properties.
All the apps here are compressed so that they take up as little space as possible.

The .51 gb which you are missing on your drive is for the formatting.... You can't help that... The menu showing 7 gb I am thinking because of rounding... not totally sure though..

Windows says you have 7,49, so thats the space your drive actually has.
You have 600 mb of apps installed which is 0,6 gb.
7,49 gb - 0,6 gb = 6,89 gb, rounded to 6,9 gb.
So.... what exactly is the problem?
As for the having 7,49 gb with a 8 gb drive.... my 750 gb external drive has 696 gb of space, its a common thing.

He is saying the problem is that the COMPUTER is showing 7.49 GB total while the MENU is showing 7 GB.

i thought that much but geek.menu showed 7.5 gig before i think and the whole it shows 7.49 gig not 8 gig i am putting down to the usual problem idiotic manufacturers ie they class 1 kilobyte as 1000 bytes 1mb as 1000 kb and 1gig as 1000mb not the correct 1024. happens a lot mainly dvds
I am who I intend to be.
Defining it in multiples of 1,000 is actually clearer and easier to understand. I for one wish operating systems would calculate disk space the same way.
computers can only handle base 2 IO thats why if you have a 4.7gig file dont count on a 4.7gig disc to hold it. there are 10 types of people in the world those who got this sentence those who didn't.

Absolutly...
Technically speaking, the manufacturers are right... kilo- and giga- and such are metric units for 1000's.... Computers are supposed to call them "kibibytes" and "gibibytes"... But I don't see it happening. In fact, Firefox is telling me I don't know how to spell.
