A found this site with a lot of freeware (most seem to open-source and portable :))
www.sysinternals.com
Warning - the licensing terms technically do not allow them to be used on one than one computer, but portable drives are not mentioned. I emailed them to ask for permission, and am awaiting a response.
If they're free open source, why wouldn't you be allowed to use them on more than one computer?

Some of them depend on the registry. Though I do use quite a few proggies from there; nice quality.

Someone else says "proggies", too...
Anyone happen to type "goto" instead of "go to" sometimes? Prolly not.(Ah, the good ol' Basic days!)

just the other day in a letter I was writing and I was wondering why the spellchecker marked it wrong.
My first language was QuickBASIC, so I tend to do that more often than I should. I usually catch myself, though. Note that GOTO is not specific to BASIC--C and C++ have a goto statement as well, though it's not used nearly as much in those languages. In fact, I actively avoid using it in C++.

I said "I actively avoid using it [goto] in C++." C++ is my language of choice. C# is nice, but I can't stand .NET.

The article says they bought Winternals Software... but we're talking about Sysinternals Software... are they the same thing?

for all intents and purposes I think they are. As far as my understanding goes Winternals does the paid for stuff and Sysinternals does the free stuff although I could be wrong.

"In buying Winternals, Microsoft is getting the company's free tools, its Sysinternals community website as well as several paid-for software products for businesses. However, it appears Microsoft made the deal, in large part, to hire the company's two co-founders."

I got this:
Thank you for your recent inquiry. Sysinternals has been acquired by

Microsoft plans to address these requests in the next few weeks.
