Just wanted to drop a note regarding the delay. Portable Firefox and Portable Thunderbird were going to be released this morning at 8am NY time. But Con Ed, the power company in NYC, has been supplying power with an 8% reduction in voltage (read: sub-standard voltage that doesn't play well with electronics) to portions of the city for the past 14 hours. As such, I am unable to bring my primary development systems or UPSes online. I've got my laptop setup as a backup and my internet is intermittent (which is how I'm posting this). There's no ETA on when usable power will be restored to the affected areas. I'll post more when I can.
Update (Wed July 19th): The power problems persist throughout my area. Currently getting 85 Volts instead of 110/120. All the banks, grocery stores, restaurants, etc in my neighborhood have shut down. Cell service is spotty as many cell towers' battery backups have been depleted. Subway service is partially operational today after most of Queens being shutdown last night: about 1/2 are running and 1/2 are shutdown. Con Ed says at least 26,000 people affected nearby. No estimate on when it will be fixed. Someone else had heard 2 to 5 days from Con Ed. At this point, I will most likely release in conjunction with the new versions of Firefox and Thunderbird due out Tuesday and Thursday of next week.

Con Ed is claiming an 8% voltage reduction. From the US standard of 110/120V, that would be 101.2/110.4V, which would be fine for most equipment. Unfortunately, that's not what they're actually supplying. I checked with my trusty multimeter, and I'm getting 88 Volts. Eighty eight volts. What am I supposed to be able to do with 88 Volts?

Two explosions in Queens and Brooklyn. Looks like underground fires due to overloaded power lines.
Subway problems on a couple lines. The N train was stranded last night nearby. Power issues and the third rail may be buckling on the 1-2-3 line.
Part of Laguardia were affected and flights were cancelled due to yet another line problem.
And it's only 94 degrees out. *Sigh*

I suppose if the lines are overloaded, that would explain why they reduced the voltage so much.
And yeah, I think we all know NYC's power infrastructure isn't the greatest. Remember the Blackout of 2003?

The blackout was the whole Northeast going out. That was due to just plain dumb setups in the overall grid which should have been corrected years ago. The New York City issues are from outdated underground power lines and just plain poor planning in terms of housing developments and infrastructure planning. Utilities are bad here. You'll see power lines hanging out of lamp posts and subway ceilings on a regular basis. Every summer in Queens there are underground explosions and transformers explode. This results in manhole covers blowing out. In my neighborhood alone, 3 blew up under cars. Two of the cars exploded and burned (luckily with no one inside). The third was stopped at a stoplight with someone inside. Luckily, it blew into the engine block and didn't explode. Add to all that the fact that every winter, someone and/or their dog gets electrocuted standing on a steel grate where power lines have been worn away underneath.

I thought central Illinois was bad. Small towns, but bad infrastructure. Combine that with critters getting into things and we get lots of problems. 3 Squirrel deaths this year alone, with accompanying blackouts. That and they put in an experimental transformer that was a little wiley, and BOOM!!! Sorry to hear about your troubles, John.

Here in Italy we have had a blackout back in 2003 that leaved without power the entire nation for three hours (and in some region for ten hours).
The first official explanation was that a falling tree messed up the power lines coming from Switzerland... we are still waiting for a better explanation

Yeah, I heard on the news last night that in addition to everything else you've mentioned, power lines were catching fire and there was even a manhole fire. Seems like when anything happens in New York, it's national news.

Yeah, the lines on the major street mine is off of caught fire and fell to the street and sidewalk last night around 8. They closed the area off and had about 4 fire trucks responding.

Well, John, I wouldn't worry about it too much (The releases). As the wise man said, "Shit Happens!" You got enough going on right now where you live, that app releases should be a low priority. We know you're doing your best, and I just hope you still have Air Conditioning!
