why I have old versions of included programs

I had pasuite 1.0
In november 2008 I had downloaded PASuite 1.1 (more than 100mb) and see there are old apps (oo2.4 no 3.0 ff2.0 no 3.0 ...)
I now have downloaded pasuite 1.1 (more than 100mb) and learn there are again old versions!!!! (oo2.4 no 3.0 ff2.0 no 3.0 ...)
I want ff3.05 and oo3.0 and so on..
What is going wrong?
Have I download them separately?

Separately

You need to download them separately, I believe the suite only gets updated with each new menu release.

Even if that's not the case, the individual apps get updated much more regularly than the suite.

Thank You. I noted pasuite

Thank You.
I noted pasuite cannot check if updated versions of installed adds appear. Right? Checks only itself. Must I check its separately also?
And in this case how to update these apps? Have I first to erase its and then install new versions?

yes

there is no update feature built into the menu.
The easiest way is to check the main page of this site and see if a new version was released or use the PortableApps.com Updater". Its still beta though but pretty stable.

And NO you dont have to erase anything when you update. Just run the new installer. The installer takes care of everything!

I think it might be best to

I think it might be best to dump the suites and just have the base menu. I remember I downloaded the menu full suite not long ago and had to update the majority of the apps in the pack. Might be easier to simply have the menu by itself and a link in the menu to the applications page. Also maybe on the apps page have a link to the dev test table.

I agree, the next generation

I agree, the next generation of the 'suite' should be the menu and the auto update application which acts as a application select / downloader / installer. Wether you like it or not, the suite is out dated almost as soon as it is released and publishing updated suite installers every month would be to much work. For example after the menu installation it automatically starts the 'updater' where you can select applications to install.

Every beginning user starts out with downloading the Suite, only to then re download virtually every application included again to get the current releases. Even if magazines give it away on their cover CD it's already outdated when it arrives at the shops (due to the long production traject of a magazine)

Maybe the installer can give a choice to for Suite Lite, Medium and Large then download the basic apps belonging to that suite, and also custom for people to make their own selection and (hmm) Complete for people that have the need for every PortableApp available.

But with the number of applications growing so grows the need for the new Menu which hopefully comes next year.

Oh, off topic, but remembering 'window positions' should be optional because I don't usually find it useful and as currently with the menu it's not working every time and I wish I could disable it so I don't need to realign it to the corner manually all the time.

Are you the only one?

Hello LOGAN-Portable;

If this should be some where else I am sorry. But I have not had any problem with the menu position not staying put. I have it centered on my screen. I use it on both Windows 2000 Pro and Win XP. Are others having your problem.

I like it alot Just wish it was bigger.

I vote for it

it would be fine to have a precautionary inscription for absolutely new downloaders. Especially who has limited internet traffic. I downloaded two times also.
