FontForge

FontForge is the only one I'm aware of, however I believe it requires Cygwin (Linux 'emulator', if you will) to run, which is not really a candidate for portability at all. Perhaps there are other programs, but none I can think of unfortunately. I've also clarified your title for other people to understand, try to be more descriptive with them in the future. Thanks!

There is also a mingw version http://www.geocities.jp/meir000/fontforge/ ready to use. Haven't checked it for portability. I have just played with it once or twice for the Graphic Design course I am on when at home. It's all Mac this Mac that on the course, what happened to personal choice? Admittedly there's about 70% of the market as Windows users but that main percentage remaining are Mac users whom are predominantly involved with Design in one way or another.

I hope it does fair better than cygwin for portability. After all a great open source collection for Graphic Design would be: GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus and Blender; FontForge and Kompozer are there as alternatives later in my course, with Audacity, Avidemux and dvdstyler amongst a few others for a totally open source alternative to the mainstream tools in Graphic Design.

Yes, FontForge depends on Cygwin.

It looks to me, though, as though the unofficial port of fontforge to MinGW might work well; Japanese or English (ish!).

I haven't tried it though. Also, it's bigger - a 12MB zip instead of a 7MB bz2. And it may not be kept up to date - currently it's about a month behind (with the latest cygwin build from 9 days ago). But at the bottom it does seem to have an auto patching thing... but I'm not trying it until at least when I get back home - mid February. Lots of time for someone else to do it Smile

Edit: Whoops, tanisthalon beat me to it... ah well Blum

Thanks everyone

for the all the help, I haven't keep up to date on everything to do with Graphic Design. Oh and Thanks Patrick for changing my title, sorry I didn't clarify, I will do that in the future. Biggrin

As for fontforge I look at the translated version and it looks good, I will try it out later today.

Also thanks Tanisthalon for all of the recommendations. Biggrin
