Portable Apps Installer

Is it possible to make an installer that only install the items selected. I would find that useful when you get a new flash drive or something similar instead of downloading multiple items and having to install them seperately.

I don't see why not, you

I don't see why not, you might take a look at the code for the installers of the suites

Lead, Follow, or get out of the way.

Like putting all app

Like putting all app installers in one app making a big size installer or an installer that downloads the packages and installs automatically?

yes

Yes, but some people have said that they would still need to use the individual instalers because they have a slower connection.

possibly easier,...

...what about a flashdrive cloner?
With the rapid advance of flashdrive sizes, this should be a utility that many would find handy!:]

The big hard drive makers have a cloning routine built into their free setup software, its not unlike backup routines, I'd think.

That could work

Do you know of any cloners. I would just Google it but I would like to have one with a good reputation.

PortableApps Repository Application

I think something that would be nice is a PortableApps Repository application that once installed it pulls from a list stored on the Portable apps server and you just check the apps you want and it they are then downloaded and installed into portableapps directory.

As well as being the process being easier for installation an auto update feature could be implemented as well. As we all know software these days are not static anymore as they are continuously modified works of art and as such keeping up with all the latest builds can be bothersome especially with the expanding application list that has been graciously bestowed upon portableapps.com.

I would love some imput on the matter. And I would also like to thank everyone who contrubites to PortableApps.com and John Haller for making this all possible.

Best Regards,
Michael M.

Awesome!

Prompt And perfect! *Drops to knees* Thank you MarkoMLM!!

Do you think the software will eventually implement a silent install option with installation referencing to where the PortableAppsUpdater application is located?

When will it be out of beta do you think?

I have to say again awesome work.

Best Regards,
Michael M.

Reply to Jimmy72: HD cloners

I have only used the ones that come with WD & Seagate hard drives. Their included (but also downloadable) utilities will allegedly clone *any* drives as long as there is one of the suppliers drives on the system. They also have partitioning and other tools included.
There is also Clonezilla, a LiveCD powertool. Haven't used that myself.
