Twitter Plugin for Pidgin Portable - Installer and Source

The team over at the microblog-purple project created a Twitter plugin for Pidgin and they provide an installer for the standard install of Pidgin but it doesn't support the portable version.

So I decided to create a portable installer for this plugin. Please read the installation notes as they are very important because if you don't read them and change something the installer will not work.

Downloads:
Installer - http://microblog-purple.googlecode.com/files/pidgin_portable_2.5.x-micro...
Source - http://microblog-purple.googlecode.com/files/mbpurple-0.2.0.tar.gz

microblog-purple project - http://code.google.com/p/microblog-purple/

Edit: updated installer link for the newest version of the plugin.

Nice

That's a great plugin. I'm waiting for some bugfixes in the current version before I go back to it.

I dont use Twitter myself but wanted to say congratualtions on getting your work out there. Also its good to see the portable concept being picked up so readily by base app developers Smile

actually, when i extracted

actually, when i extracted the dll from their installer version, it worked with pidginportable 2.5.3 - since 2.5.4, the original dll isn't supported anymore. so thank you for providing this replacement!

Installation problems from a Linux box

I downloaded and tried to install your Twitter plugin for Pidgin on my PCLinuxOS 2009.1 system to an external USB HD that I have previously installed many PortableApps applications. I've also run several dozen PAF'ed application installers from this setup via wine. Your installer hangs after displaying the license info (with much, but not all the license highlighted). No buttons to accept/reject the license are visible and the screen box cannot be re-sized. (attempting to explain the symptoms). The only other indication of potential trouble is that wine reports you are trying to display an html page (unlike other installers) and needs to install gecko within wine (which I did). On a second start of the installer, it hung again during the license display in exactly the same way. Perhaps changing the HTML page display to straight text may solve this issue.

Thanks for the Portable Plugin Support!

I just picked it up from the plugin's website & it's working well for me.

Now, I'll likely use Twitter more than have before! ^_^

I hope this plugin can be included in the listings with Pidgin here.

New version?

Do you plan to produce an updated version of this now that 0.3.0 is out?
