Unable to install add-ons

When I try to add on an extension (for example, FireShot), I click the "add extension" button and after some churning I get:

Firefox could not install the file at

https://addons.mozilla.org/downloads/file/42641/fireshot-0.63-fx-win.xpi

because: Download error
-228

This has happened with more than one extension.

Step one then two

Right click on the file listing and choose "save link as" to download it from the web to your USB or computer.

Once you have it, then try to install it (drag and drop it onto a Firefox window is probably easiest).

Sorry

That starts to narrow down the problem.

I just used the link in your first message to successfully download the file.

What add-ons do you currently have installed?

Standard Mozilla troubleshooting says to run a clean (no add-ons) install and try it again. (You can install a clean version in a different directory or you can check Mozilla KB for directions on how to start your existing install clean.) If it works, then you've got a problem with an add-on.
