Two Pidgin Processes Running At Once.. Why?

I have been using this setup for a long time now, yet last night is the first time that I notice that when I run pidgin two process start with it. Is this normal? Last I remember it was just once.

These are the processes I see in my task manager

pidgin-portable.exe
PidginPortable.exe

This is my setup.

I have pidgin installed in my PC in \My Documents\PCPortableApps\PidginPortable with a series of other portable apps which I see no reason as to why I would want to install them in my PC.

Two days ago I "updated" Pidgin 2.5.2 to its latest version 2.5.3 to just find out that there are some problems with it. As I always do, I backed-up the PidginPortable folder by making a copy of it in my Desktop. I went ahead and deleted the the PidginPortable 2.5.3 folder under my PCPortableApps folder, then moved the backup I had made of 2.5.2 from my desktop back to my PCPortableApps folder.

To me it looks and sounds like it should be as if nothing has taking place, right? Well, last night as I was checking my Task Manager, I came to find out that PidginPortable runs two processes.

Shouldn't it be just pidgin-portable.exe? or something. I would hate for pidgin to start running more than one process ala AIM

Any help and/or clarification will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

By Design

This is by design. The pidgin-portable.exe file is Pidgin itself set in its "portable mode". The PidginPortable.exe is our launcher. Our launcher sticks around until after Pidgin itself closes and removes the multiple files it leaves behind on the local machine in APPDATA and USERPROFILE.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

So that is what is to it

You do learn something new everyday. This doesn't only explains the two processes but it also gives me a littler bit more inside as to how the whole portable scene works.

Thanks for the clarification and the rapid respond John.
