What [Free/Open source] Portable Programs do you have on your Flashdrive that's NOT 'PortableApps'

This may be in wrong Forum but......

I was curious on what Free/Opensource programs other people have put on their USB Flash drive & found that they have run 'OK' without being 'modified' by those clever people @ PortableApps.com.

I'll start the ball rolling with what I have found that work on my Flash Drive.
Note that I DON'T include any programs found on PortableApps.com (either released/beta or trials) - this is for NON-PortableApps.com programs

I don't know if any of these actually write anything in the registry or create additional folders etc - maybe some 'expert' can tell me how to find out

Name Of Program / What does it do
=================================
AM-Deadlink / Download Favicons & checks browser bookmark for non-existant links
AM-Notebook / Personnal Information Manager
A-Squared free / Spyware scanner
Autoplay repair / Tool for handling Windows Autoplay handles
CookieView / Utility to view cookies stored on PC
FontFrenzy / Font Viewer, cleanup & backup utility
Foxit Reader / PDF Veiwer, similar to Adobes but not so bloated
HiJackThis / Malware scanner, reporting tool
HOSTSman / Utility to edit your PC HOSTS file - helps block unsavory websites
IcoFX / ICO graphic editor, create your own graphics
Reseeker / Registry searcher,editor & Cleaner
MagicBean Keyfinder / Program to find your Producr or Licences key for Windows/Office etc
ShellMenuView / Utility to disable 'right click' option from Explorer menu

sorry but the MagicBean

sorry but the MagicBean Keyfinder is in the beta testing forums https://portableapps.com/node/13643 Blum

as for me I use everything from portableapps.com as if I use any other app that isn't portableapps.com I risk leaving stuff behind even if that app says it doesn't

The exe is not an installer,

The exe is not an installer, it's the actual executable that starts the game. Just download the exe, put it on your flash drive, and double click. Instant gratification. Wink

Are you sure you're talking about the music player - Teen Spirit? Because the EXE file on their site seems to install the application...

Sorry, disregard my last

Sorry, disregard my last comment. I was confused about which app you were talking about. The portable version of Teen Spirit is here:
http://teenspirit.artificialspirit.com/download

Get the "files only" package and unzip it to it's own directory. Transfer the directory to your portable drive and there you go. I don't know if it leaves anything behind though so if that's important to you you may want to test it.

Are you sure Foxit is portable? I know it's just one EXE but I don't think it's portable in the sense that it doesn't touch the registry.

Foxit isn't open source. Its freeware. With this said I use PDF X-Change Viewer. It's stealth and with the inclusion of the type writer tool in the free version, it is the superior product IMHO.

WOW! Is the type writer tool

WOW! Is the type writer tool the same as a commenting/editing/etc tool? I'll go and check it out... if it has the editing features and IS portable then it definitely is the answer I was looking for!!!

From my experience, X-Change

From my experience, X-Change has all the commenting/annotating capabilities as Foxit and I can confirm the compatibility (At least all that which I used) with Adobe Acrobat.

The Type-Writer Tool allows you to add text directly to the PDF rather than just in a comment/note area.

I have read its not as light on resources as Foxit and therefore nor Sumatra, however I didn't notice the difference with actual usage. Good luck Smile

I don't have them installed now

but have tried these and they seem like they are okay:

Burncdcc which burns iso images to a cd

Deepburner a cd burning program

Restoration a deleted file recovery program

WikiTaxi a portable "sort of Wikipedia" type app

ccleaner and cleanafterme

Yadabyte dictionary

All of these aren't from PortableApps.com, but were mentioned or recommended by
users here.
