I was curious what the development status on musikCube was. I think it's a great media player, and PortableApps.com could use something a little more advanced in the way of libraries than VLC Media Player. John, you said you do have permission do work make up a portable version of Sunbird today or yesterday, but I know you have a lot to do, so I'm not expecting it any time soon.
John said over here that he's already working on a portable version of musikCube with permission and participation from the author as it's trademarked. And over here he said he's got what sounds like a fairly advanced launcher that was planned for beta about a year ago. And over here almost a year ago he mentioned a beta would be posted soon.
I have no problem that a beta hasn't been posted, I understand you always have a lot going on and maybe you wanted to fine-tune the launcher. But I was wondering if a beta was available, and/or whether or not this was still in development. I'd be happy to take a look at it, and update it to the current paf if it's mostly done, as I was going to work on this myself, but you (John) already have permission and it sounds like you've written a very decent launcher for it.
So was just hoping I could get word on it's status, I'm not asking for a beta right now, just wondering whether it will be posted at some time, and if your hands are too full, I can update it and post a beta.
It's basically done. But musikCube is *NOT* open source. It includes the closed source BASS audio library. Just the interface and library is open source. So, since it's not an open source app, it can't be hosted at SourceForge.

I didn't know about the audio library. If it's in one of those threads I linked, I'm really blind. (Or maybe that's what the Trade Markings it about.
Look forward to it.
Any chance of a launcher test since is may be a while before we have an area to host it?
Would it be possible to make a Launcher for musikCube? Because I do like how I can download LimeWire Portable and it will gather the files necessary from my installed version of LimeWire Basic. If that could be done with more apps, that would be very nice. Perhaps a "Request Launcher" section can be added to the forum for requests such as this. The only thing is, the apps that Launchers are requested for have to be portable themselves and free because a Launcher can't be made for a payware app if the developer of the Launcher can't get a hold of a copy of the app.
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with Windows.
Ok, then I guess it isn't normal for the project to be hosted on SourceForge already?
The two projects split off. That one is Open Source. MusikCube we're referring to is non-commercial freeware with the source to the interface available.

Does that mean that we could use the SF.net binaries and make a PA.com version?
hi. try this:
create new text file in musikcube dir. rename it to startmc.bat. You might have to disable "hide extension for known file types" in folder options /view tab.
enter this in file:
set userprofile=%~dp0
start musikcube.exe
save file. start musikcube by double clicking bat file.
you can check if it works by renaming or deleting .musikproject directory in C:\Documents and Settings\your_username, and starting muskcube by clicking on bat file.
You should also copy musikCube.ttf in the same dir.
Note: if otherwise selected library will be on device root I think.
"You would need to set the default library to the one on the device using File -> Database -> Change Database",
but your playlist will be saved, and any net radio addresses you have added.
