Why "Code::Blocks" and not wxDev-C++?

I saw some posts about wxDev-C++, but nobody followed this topic. Is there any reason why you decided to continue with Code::Blocks as the preferred C++ IDE for PortableApps.com, and not wxWidgets? I'm asking because I like wxDev-C++ that lets you develop easily from very simple pure C apps to cross platform wxWidgets.

Not decided

There is a Development Test for Code::Blocks, but it's not a perfect launcher - it needs redoing to fix up its APPDATA handling (don't worry if you don't understand - it just means that it doesn't keep its settings with it). Zach Hudock doesn't have as much time as he'd hoped, and is willing for others to take it over: I'm doing that, and so I'll publish a fixed up development test soon.

However, nothing has been decided as yet (as far as I know), it's just that Code::Blocks was the one which was done. For me, I like making more and more apps portable, so I think I'll look at Dev-C++ and wxDev-C++ soon.

I'll get back to you when I do.

Well, development on

Well, development on wxDev-C++ stopped in March 2007, while Code::Blocks is actively developed. I suppose if wxDev is really stable it's worth it, but won't it fall behind in feature support for new versions of wxWidgets?

Been looking some more...

And I see that you're somewhat right. Dev-C++ died in 2005, and the latest stable release of wxDev-C++ was March 07, but look at the 7.0 RC3. 18th November 2008. I'm not sure that it's dead yet.

I'll see how I go and how it goes.
