Audacity: recording OmniPage text "readings"

Hi, has anyone tried recording text "readings" from OmniPage -- I have OmniPage 16 standard, and I'd like to record "readings" from a number of text/Word documents as audio files. Have an Acer 5520 notebook -- not sure if Audacity can record from this, and not sure how to check.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Input

You should be able to get it by changing the input from "line in" or "microphone" to one of the others - use trial and error, can't remember what it should be called.

On my system

"Wave Out Mix" is the setting that works.

XP and Under

You can only do that on Windows XP and under. Windows Vista and up has eliminated it due to pressure from the RIAA/MPAA.

Whaaa?

That's CRAZY!
I constantly use that function to record sound effects and distortions that can't be done in Audacity.

WOW.
There are so many legitimate functions for recording from wave out mix, it's ridiculous that they would block that.

Yet another reason I won't be upgrading to Vista!!

Sheesh...

EDIT:
After Googling the issue, it appears that Vista does not disable the function; it hides it very well.
A non-Vista part of the problem seems to be a widely-held belief that the RIAA has pressured Sound Card manufacturers to remove the function from their drivers, but I don't know if that's true.

There's quite a few sites that explain how to enable it; also, if all else fails, a cable from the speaker out or line-out to the microphone or line-in may work.
