Need A Portable Epi Info

Epi Info is a free statistical analysis software package from CDC. I'm not good at programming, so I'm wondering how easy/hard it would be to make it portable. A lot of us Epidemiologists use it out on the field to create and analyze surveys and other statistical information. Some of the computers we use are IT-locked, and the Epi Info version on them is ancient. Plus, we can't take the computers into the field, or home, etc...

If anyone can make it portable, or teach me how to do it, please let me know.

Please provide a link to the application and someone might try.

Agree

I need it too, and the link is here

But I think that a launcher only is required since Epi Info is closed source freeware... But since it's a software required for epidemiological analysis, I think that permission can be easily granted to portabilize.

Here is the Spanish version (the one I use)

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

I would also love to see a portable version of EpiInfo. It would definitely make training easier, since you wouldn't have to worry about installing it if you brought along a portable version.

There is a pre-beta open source release of EpiInfo, described in the following MMWR note:

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5749a5.htm?s_cid=mm5749a5_e

Here is the link to the website with the open source version:

Any news on this?

Any news on this? The Epi-Info installer is a real nuisance, it would be great to have a portable version (plus at work the IT team takes 3 weeks to install the slightest piece of software)
