I was wondering if anyone knows of an open source equivalent to Visual Basic . I have taken a look at www.FreeBASIC.net but I was looking for something that is more object oriented programming. Mainly be cause I use Visual Studio at home so a relatively familiar interface would be nice.
As far as I know, there is not any which is nativity portable, but there are three, which can be made portable since they are open source:
ThinBasic http://www.thinbasic.com/
XBlite http://www.xblite.com
Gambas http://gambas.sourceforge.net/
For my taste, Gambas is the coolest one, and is the only one with an IDE (very similar to VisualBasic), but there is no stable Win32 compilation of it which support GUI programming. So at first someone must make it work properly with Cygwin. I think Gambas is realy worth to be worked on.
