I love portable apps but I miss the possibility to add non PortableApps software in the menu.
I just found another application launcher which is much more flexible:

Maybe you could add some flexibility in your launcher?

Well it's not very pretty, is it? But it does look functional.
But you're wrong; the PortableApps.com launcher can add non-PA.com apps, it's just got to be done a certain way. In short, it lists all .exe files in the root folder of X:\PortableApps\whateverYourApp'sNameIs. That's why they're all formatted the way they are, with just the launcher which mostly cleans up after the app and then the app itself in the App directory underneath. So if you wanted CCleaner Portable, not a PA.com app and officially unsupported (by request of Piriform, CCleaner's developer; not John T. Haller, PA.com's developer, actually), you'd download the zip and extract it to X:\PortableApps\CCleaner and it'd find ccleaner.exe and put it right on the menu. Oh, in both cases X is your flash drive's drive letter.
On the other hand, the PA.com menu won't support Deus Ex, a computer game which can be made portable if you tell it not to look for the CD (which I can't tell you how to do actually), because the game's EXE must be in its System folder, one folder too deep. Oh, I suppose I could make a launcher, but like you I've found another menu. The PAM R34 MOD is basically a hacked version (a fork, as they call it) of the official menu. Looks mostly the same but has a lot more options. See, the menu you've got is ugly and functional; the official PA.com menu is pretty but light on features, but the R34 mod is both pretty and functional. Win-win.
The official PA.com menu is great for newcomers, but it's only natural techies will soon discover the more advanced ones. Then you've got geek.menu which is just something else entirely, a bit too technical for me.

Portable Apps Menu is, right now, perfectly flexible enough.
You CAN add non-Portable Apps software to it right now.
Is there some other unasked flexibility request that you are talking about?

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
I have been playing with putting applications in the directory like you told me.
Indeed it works, but what I miss is the possibility to make (sub)folders in which I can put the different programs.
At this moment I use more then 40 portable applications with my USB stick and having them all in one long row is not very handy.
Portable Start Menu is for me much more flexible.
I hope portableApps menu will support it one day.

We'll have categories (aka folders) in the menu in 2.0 and the ability to define custom links apps outside of the X:\PortableApps locations. But apps in nonstandard locations can't be automatically found with the PortableApps.com Installers and won't work with our updater, backup utility or other features.
