on my home pc I set fx portable as a defaul browser. If fx is turned on, everything is OK, links from other apps work fine.
The problem begins when fx is turned off. If I click a link in external program then, firefox turns on, but without my profile. A new raw profile is created in c:/documents and settings/...
Turning on fx by clicking firefoxportable.exe restores my original profile.
What can I do to fix it?

Firefox Portable is meant to be portable, meaning it doesn't leave any personal settings on the PC you use it on. This excludes the possibility of having Windows know to use Firefox Portable as its default browser. You could manually edit the needed registry keys though to get it to work, but it isn't officially supported.
And this is exactly why I have a local copy of Firefox in addition to my portable one
