I noticed in my Firefox-U3 profile folder, there are about 60 backup copies of my bookmarks.html and my prefs.js files. This is way too many backups, but I cant seem to find any way to stop them from being generated. It seems there are 2 of each backed up every time I exit firefox. They are taking up too much space and see no real need for more than 1 or 2 backup copies. HELP!
That's really odd. Firefox is only supposed to create 5 backups of bookmarks.html and if more have to be created, it deletes old ones. And I don't think it backs up prefs.js at all... either way, there's no way to turn off/adjust the bookmarks backup feature, so you're out of luck. Complain to the Firefox devs.

It wasnt Firefox but "Tab Mix Plus 0.3.0.5" extension. The way they can recover an old session is by saving every session on exit. The problem is I can find no way of limiting the number of saved sessions so it starts taking up a lot of room. Even turning that part of the extension off, it still saves the sessions. The only way to stop it was to uninstall it.
Session-saving and crash recovery extensions aren't recommended for use with PFF anyway, since they constantly write to the drive, even while Firefox is still running, decreasing the life of your key and usually slowing everything down to a crawl.
