I have an an encrypted file with 2.0.6.
After updating to 2.0.7 i got message "de-encryption failed".
How to open this file?
Downgrading to 2.0.6 would solve the problem?
I have XP Home as OS and no restrictions on the computer.

encryption stuff hasnt changed and I just tested this myself, encrypted a file in 2.0.6 and it decrypted find in 2.0.7, my guess is that you go the passowrd wrong in which case it wont be decrypted.

Tried with few other files: same result.
Edit: Any possibilities to de-encrypt files again?

EDIT: The other thing is if you have a file that would have to be overwritten, i.e. your encrypted file was callled test.txt.cpt and you had a file called test.txt it would skip it so it didnt overwrite.

Tried it with version 0.6 but no other result.
Well, it seems really to be a problem with the password (like you said).
Is there any other way to "rescue" the file?

secure is secure is secure! However it is probably worth trying variations on the password, perhaps with capslock on for example.
Darn me! I tried Caps lock and it worked.
Memo for myself: No pints before encrypting files and no posting probs after such a night.

You could try using KeePass Portable. Its PA.com's password manager and works a charm
