Hi,
I'm planning to talk about PortableApps on my blog sometime, but I don't know whether to do it now or wait for version 2.0, not only that, but is it OK if I can get an image of the PortableApps.com Menu so I can show people what I'm talking about? I'm going to be linking to the site anyway! I was thinking of waiting until 2.0 comes out as it will show a major release!
Thanks in advance! I'm really looking forward to doing a blog post as last week I did a bit of an argument about buying software when there are Free and Open Source alternatives available!
I was also wondering, does PortableApps support just Open Source, or do you also support the Free Software Movement as well, as I've read on a site, Open Source and Free Software are similar, but are quite different.
Me most definitely support the Free Software Movement, and in fact I myself (and I know John as well) are not too impressed with acclaimed 'open source' software that lies under restrictive licenses.
I'm interested about blogging about PortableApps.com as well, problem is I can't remember if I've done it or not. I know at one point I started talking about the platform and the usefulness of portability vs. installing, and then went into all the apps I use, and it got a bit long-winded, so I stopped and trashed the article, but I've been using PortableApps for a while now, so I may have.
I know I haven't since I found out about the R34 mod, so I'll probably just wait until 2.0. Not like I'd bring y'all a lot of traffic or anything, it's not really that kind of blog. Just a place I post rants of various sorts.
I already blogged about the 1.5 release on my blog, if you want to read about it, it is in the link next to my nickname labeled homepage

I really appreciate the comments! I think I'll wait until PortableApps Suite 2.0 is released as I said! If it wasn't for an article I read on the www.gnu.org website called Can You Trust Your Computer, I wouldn't be so against proprietary software and restrictive licenses. I'm looking forward to doing a post about the new Menu, I plan to introduce it so people who visit my blog know what it is like! I'll list all the features people can use with it as well! By the way, should I take a screenshot of the Menu on my computer or should I copy the image from the site? I'm even going to mention how great the support on this site is and how quickly I've had responses!
I've been using PortableApps for a few years now and still think it's amazing how these great apps can be put onto a USB drive for personal use from computer to computer! I've never tried U3, but I'm so glad I haven't! If anyone wants to see my blog, they can get to it via my homepage link! I'm so glad I've never tried PStart or any other portable program before the Menu as the Menu is the BEST, and while I can't use The GIMP Portable or Pidgin Portable on my current computer, I will use them on my new computer when I get it, then I might install the local versions if the Portable ones work!

If so, its quite a good read. thanks.
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
Yes, that is the article that made me change how I feel about Windows and other non-free software! You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed reading it as much as I did!
By the way, you might find it interesting to read through the other articles in the GNU website's Philosophy section! I found many of them a great read as well!
