Due to a power cut, the PC turned off and files weren't saved on my USB stick (using FF from within a TrueCrypt volume).
When I restarted, ScanDrive had to be run to fix some errors, now the POrtabkleApps menu loads but FF refuses to start, no error messages.
I tried reinstalling and then replacing the old folders but no luck so the problem must be in those files somewhere.
How do I keep the old data and do a reinstall? I have copied the folders: App, Other, and Data
Thanks

FF won't start
All your own files are in Data. So, if you do a fresh install of FFP and then delete the Data in the new one and replace it with your old, that is a first step. If that fails, your prefs.js may be corrupt... or something else. You can go to a command line and run FirefoxPortable.exe -safe-mode and see if it works since you could have a corrupt extension (then you'll need to figure out which).
Otherwise, delete your prefs.js in Data\profile and copy the default one from Apps\DefaultData\profile to Data\profile and then try running again. Your settings will be reset but your bookmarks cookies and extensions will be there.

Tried all those options and still doesn't start up.
I get the splash screen and the nothing.
Will a fresh install (with default data) to your local hard drive work? Will moving that fresh install moved to your portable drive work?

The fresh install on the USB works fine, it's just when I copy over the Data folder that it refuses to start.
Your profile probably has multiple corrupt bits. So, you'll need to try it a piece at a time. Start with a default install then try bringing in your bookmarks/history (places.sqlite) and cookies (cookies.sqlite) and saved passwords (signons3.txt). You may need to try one piece at a time and see if it works. If your bookmarks are corrupt, you may be able to get at the backups. Details on all files are here:

In the future, be sure you're making a backup of your app data folders. It's just a couple clicks in the PortableApps.com Backup utility.
