Dling now. KVIrc is absolute WIN. Thanks Gizmokid2005!
EDIT: Just like McDonald's, I'm Lovin' It. It works perfectly. I have an idea though. The default Yellow skin is an eyesore. It would be cool if someone would create a PortableApps theme to replace Yellow as the default.
would be cool. But I'm not a theme designer...I would be up for the idea of including it as a separate download though so people can add it. I just don't want to mess with the default too much.
Ok Michael looking good so far one thing you could look into is maybe have the settings moved to Data/Settings instead of Data/Settings/settings (current procedure though works well enough though :))
Though in the AppInfo.ini file you should update from 0.9.8 to the latest installer which I believe is marked at version 12.x other than that every thing looks good

AppInfo is currently separate from the installer. But not for long...

I like where this is going.
I went back and forth on the settings thing, but the actual settings are stored in 'Settings' in the application, and it seems to be common practice with a lot of apps, like Cornice and Pidgin to create a 'settings' directory to keep the settings in. Hence the double-folder there.
Not sure how keen I am on the base app (though I'll have a better play later) but the portabilisation seems to work, nice one
I may have found an issue. When I started KVIrc Portable today it ran the "first time you've run KVIrc" dialog. It's like it completely lost my settings. I had closed it and restarted the program yesterday with no issues. I set it back up the way I wanted it and am going to try to reproduce it. I'll let you know what happens.
EDIT: I closed the program, ejected the drive, restatrted and I can't reproduce it. I really don't understand what happened this morning, but it's working fine now. Thanks Gizmokid2005!
had you used the app on that machine before? If not it may be storing some information in registry which is why it thought it was the first run?
PortableApps.com Advocate
KVIrc in portable mode doesn't even look at the registry, in fact, nothing is stored in the registry regarding data/settings.
Please let me know if it happens again. The only time that will happen, afaik, is if the "portable" file in the root directory or App\KVIrc gets deleted.
You also shouldn't have had to recreate your settings...they should've still been in Data\settings\Settings.
