Use cursor keys with PAP, is it possible?

Just wondering.

Try it!

Come on, don't ask about something like this, try it, of course!

Yes, you can the /(Page )?(Up|Down)/ keys to navigate the menu (Page Up, Page Down, Up and Down if you can't read a regular expression :P), but not to run a program. You have to click for that.

Really, this is a very silly question, incognite, as you can find the answer as easily as anyone - and much faster.

Not a flame

He wasn't flaming you, though the remark was a little snide.

That's how one gets better with computers. I've never taken a computer class. I could pass one with no problem, I just don't spend the money. I learned what I know by just doing. "Try it" is really some of the best advice you can give someone in IT. You can write out a technical how-to, but aside from a lot of people being too lazy to read a wall of text, you can tell me how to do something until you're blue in the face, but until I actually *do* it myself, it don't mean squat. And then once I do it, I know it. Well, I've been going like that for almost 20 years.

Now some things can break easy if you go tinkering, like the Registry. But a lot of things, just going at it and seeing what does what and pushing the limits of what a program says it can do, that's how you learn.

Well

I've studied the semantics of XML 1.1, I know ECMA script but that doesn't stop me from understanding the limitations of any given program and if people are going to be stuffed shirt about it, that's they're problem as far as I'm concerned.

Well then...

Well, then you know more than I do, at least about XML and whatever ECMA is.

Now, are you asking if something's possible or are you making a suggestion? If it's the latter, I owe you an apology as I took it to be the former, and not to put words in anybody's mouth, but it looks like Chris Morgan above did, too, though if you look at the original post, you can kind of see how.

Moving forward from assuming you meant it the other way, I don't think it's a limitation that stops one from using the arrow keys to navigate the PA.c menu (and using Enter to choose something) as every other menu lets you do just that, and as much as JTH has addressed suggestions regarding menu behavior with 'this is how menus typically act', it would seem that if this were a feature request, it would have a degree of validity.

My father was a big fan of using the mouse as little as possible; he came from the old school, from way back. So it's a good idea, but I'm so used to using a mouse the ability to go without one is of little importance to me. Then again, the one at home does like to drift, so at the same time, I'd value better keyboard navigation.

Maybe the führer was right

using the mouse with the right hand is wrong just in case no one knows. It's supposed to be with the left as the number keys are for the right at least this is how I understand the interface but again that's never stopped me from being a typical user.

My only thought about this is that Open Source needs to be more about usability standards, this ridiculous situation of single clicks and double clicks not working the timing of which is left to the pipeline

Wait, what?

Actually, using the right hand is right for right-handed people. Maybe lefties get access to more useful keys with their right hand, but that doesn't mean everyone should move the mouse to the left of the keyboard. Where did that come from, anyway?

Gotta cut you off there, after that you kinda stopped making sense.

Open Source is about that and more; it's about people and making stuff that works for people rather than corporations. Ultimately, anyway. That doesn't make every open source developer that idealistic. PortableApps.com is pretty idealistic, sometimes to the point of fanaticism, about another hallmark of open source software, security, or rather a part of that, privacy. And we wouldn't have 'em any other way.

As I said

It's never a case of a simple single click and it appears another click and it disappears, the behaviour is completely unpredictable and that's fine since it's not a true multimedia interface yet it's functions are unique in the software world so what I am asking for is more support for vista and not this open source thing ok.

The windowing model :)

but you'd know this of course!

Thanks anyway, no cynicism intended it's working very well compared to past versions even this clicking thing has improved but it's more to do with the OS than anything else but still MMCSS could be implemented.

I'm only assuming that daemons come third?

Honestly

Honestly, what are you even talking about anymore? "More support for Vista?" Um, it works on Vista. "more support for vista and not this open source thing ok" What does that even mean? MMCSS? This is a MENU, there's nothing multimedia about it so why would we implement MMCSS? And it doesn't even use the network. And 'daemons'? That doesn't even have anything remotely to do with what we're discussing.

Seriously, are you just stringing random technical words together now? Or are you purposely trolling just to mess with everyone?

No

I want to see improvements to the windowing model of Microsoft Systems and I believe with the collective knowledge here that it can be done.

I don't suppose you heard that speach by the CEO did you about making it easier for open source software to run on Windows Systems?

Meaning in my mind at least that the adoption of open source principles to any software made for windows that theoretically at least we should see more robust apps operating in a truely transparent environment.

You might sit there and just use email and chat or browse but others such as myself actually use it for work other than programming some two bit half baked apps.
