Portable Xenon and Portable Teracopy

I downloaded Teracopy Portable 2.0 Beta 3 from Code Sector's website. It cannot be designated as the default copy handler, so is there a way to integrate it into Xenon?

I have found these instructions on the TeraCopy Portable Help
http://help.codesector.com/TeraCopyPortable

It looks doable, but I just don't know how to add a custom button into Xenon.

Much appreciated,
X-Legs

You are using Xenon 1.5

You are using Xenon 1.5 right? It is possible, however it isn't exactly easy. Xenon 1.5 includes a plugin system. Are you familiar with AutoIt coding? (Or programming in general) If not then this might be tricky. One example is the open with plugin that is bundled with Xenon.

No, I am not exactly familiar with coding. I can use Xenon 1.5 or Xenon 2.0 Beta 3. I would appreciate the help, and it might be a good idea to integrate this into Xenon later on.

Xenon 2 doesn't have plugin

Xenon 2 doesn't have plugin support yet. Also what good would this program do anyway?

Teracopy is much faster than Windows. I also want it to integrate with my portable file manager. It's about being one step closer to bringing my computer with me in a thumb drive.

OK I think there would be an easier solution in 1.5 than a plugin. I can throw it together in a few seconds. Does this program support copying/moving/deleting folders just like a file? Also on in a test folder containing no files could you run the following command and tell me what the output is.

PathToExecutable/TeraCopy.exe Copy *"a.txt" "b.txt"
echo %errorlevel%

Please note, however, that this solution is a bit hackish and not officially supported.

Here it is John:

And I think it makes sense to support it as the developer is doing a PAF version... and we're gonna make a point of supporting working with the software that supports PortableApps.com.

OK, but the way I am going to do it is a bit hackish anyway. (I was planning on replacing Move.au3, Copy.au3, and Delete.au3. No recompilation would be required.) Should I look into implementing it for 2.0?

Hmmm

Maybe we could do it as a minor update to 1.5 if there is enough interest. And put it in 2.0 as well.

I'm wondering if it would be better to put it in 2.1 because I hope to give xenon a more modular structure in that release. Then we could make it a plugin that overrides file operations. Also I would say it is a good idea to do a minor update to 1.5 especially because we have gotten a number of new translations.

2.0

I'd say get it into 2.0 as well. It could honestly be a simple config entry. I believe FreeCommander and TotalCommander handle it that way.

When you get to 2.1 and it is more modular, then we can do it as a plugin at that time.

none of the apps here carry a virus, it's because Xenon is written in Autoit (not version 2 that we are talking about) and autoit aloways get's flagged as a virus, this is a false positive so it's safe Smile

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't think there would be a virus or worm in any of the Portable Apps. So does Clamwin need to be updated or Xenon need to be written differently? Chicken or egg?

well it's autoit is used for virus makers, however this tool while written in autoit doesn't do anything malicious, and xenon is actually being rewritten in C++ and the version 2.0 is in beta testing
