Gobby

I think it's a very interesting application :

Gobby is a free collaborative editor supporting multiple documents in one session and a multi-user chat. It runs on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and other Unix-like platforms.

Gobby is covered under the GPL (General Public License).

http://gobby.0x539.de/trac/

Feautures :

* Realtime Collaboration through encrypted channels (version 0.4.0 and up)
* Each user has its own changeable colour to be identified by others
* IRC-like chat for communicating with your partners while coding
* Syntax highlighting for most programming languages
* Session password protection
* Multiple documents in one session
* Drag'n'drop of documents into Gobby
* Document synchronisation on request
* Zeroconf support
* Unicode support
* Cross-platform: runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X (albeit not
natively) and other flavours of UN*X
* Gobby is free software and licenced under the GPL 2

Yes this would be nice

Yes this would be nice portable, though it seems it uses gtk and some other parts, not so sure how easy it would be to do.

notepadd++ has realtime editing with basic features, if you can't wait.

I love the concept

Gobby (or something like it .... does anyone know of any others) would be ideal for some of the things my friends and I do.

You'll get a big tick from me if it can be done. Smile

Not a coder so useless for me

Not a coder so useless for me but from the features listed I have to say sounds like a great tool. Only potential problems I can think of are what are the dependencies, what is the programming language and with the net connections what settings need to be ported as this could be a real spanner in the works.

Hopefully it isn't so good luck Smile

Dependancies

All the dependancies appear to be distributed via DLLs with Gobby by default, so we shouldn't have an issue with that.

I would be willing

Hate to bump an old thread, but I've been looking for something to create a launcher for ever since I completed Warzone 2100. I'll have a go at this. I already use it without issue from my USB, but it doesn't save my settings (however, it does indeed work). I'll get started ASAP.
