it just means that the app

it just means that the app you have isn't in the PortableApps.com format as the menu now reads the appinfo.ini file in App/AppInfo folder. Just for now right click on the app in the menu and rename it.

I, too, have that issue with some apps that have not been created for portable. I tried to rename the app, but when I click the new entry in the menu, it does not launch the app. Does it have something to do with the name in the .ini file not matching the .exe?

Bad PAF Format

If you encounter an app created by someone else that shows with the error above, it probably won't launch. You can browse to the app's PortableApps\AppNamePortable directory and delete the AppInfo folder. Then refresh the menu. At that point, the app will show up as a non-PortableApps.com Format app and you can hide EXEs and rename the appropriate one.

You should also tell whoever published it of the bug in their app.

Fixing bad (old) appinfo.ini file

I got tired of the long wait time for the mod30 (or mod31?) menu to load all the portable apps I'm using, so I installed the new standard portable apps menu. I had the error with PortableApps backup and PortableApps Updater beta. I found easy to fix problems in the appinfo.ini files. In [Format] I changed Type from PortableAppsFormat to PortableApps.comFormat and Version from 0.9 to 0.9.8. in [Control] I changed Icons from 2 to 1. I shut down and restarted Portable Apps, and the PAF missing name error went away.

Not Needed

Those are the old Backup and Restore utilities and no longer used. The menu uses the built-in ones. Everything is now self-contained within a PortableApps.com directory. You can delete the PortableAppsBackup folder.

App Error

Yeah, it means the app itself has an error in it's PortableApps.com Format settings. The issue should be reported to the app's author.

And, once again, please STOP hitting submit multiple times. I think the mods are getting of tired of cleaning up your postings.

Sorry

I encounter very few web servers that are so configured (poorly) in this way.

Anyway, about the issue at hand, the programs were the back up and restore I've found since your app tries to install to the root of whatever driver, windows says no to C:/

Do you get this or we have troubles comprehending?

[Double post removed by mod SL - it isn't this server, only you have the problem]

If appname (or other appinfo)

If appname (or other appinfo) is missing, I think the menu should add the info automatically. This would make the menu more backward compatible and also facilitate other apps. What do you think?
