Anyway, you can try it out if you'd like:
Download Thunderbird Portable Address Book Stub Launcher
Just download that file, ThunderbirdPortableAddressBook.exe, and place it within your ThunderbirdPortable directory next to ThunderbirdPortable.exe. Running it will launch ThunderbirdPortable.exe with the -addressbook command line parameter, starting your TB address book directly. You can start the full TB from the address book window by clicking Tools - Mail & Newsgroups or just hitting CTRL-1. And the stub launcher will show up in PortableApps Menu as "Thunderbird Portable (Address Book)".
this Stub Launcher is very valuable and should be included in the ThunderbirdPortable package. But it's not perfectly working on my side: besides the address book window it also opens the full thunderbird window. Is this normal behaviour? How can I only open the adressbook windows?
Since I only use the perfect address book of thunderbird (not it's email functionality) I'm also interessted in a comparable standalone portable address book. I searched already and can't believe there isn't one out there.
The "Thunderbird Portable (Address Book)" & Icon do not show up, i've refreshed several times and even deleted and reinstalled with no luck.
If i click on the ThunderbirdPortableAddressBook.exe thru explorer it starts just fine, so i know it works, just does not show up as a menu item.
I put it in a directory by it self and refresh icons and it then shows up and starts, but with no data because it is not in the right working directory.
One option is fltdj. It's written using the cross-platform fltk library, so it compiles on Windows. You'd need to set the HOME environment variable to a directory on your flash drive to make it work in a portable environment.
Hello John, did you already updated this launcher?
For me, the actual launcher works well, but as described earlier I would like to start the addressbook part without opening the thunderbird window. Is this generally possible or a non-changable behaviour of thunderbird itself?
ok, finally I found the origin of this uncommon behaviour: a plug-in called minimize-to-tray. After deinstall of this everythings seems to work as desired

That old address book launcher isn't supported in the new platform. I'll post an updated one today in the beta test section.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks John
