I've tried downloading this about 5 times now also using alternate mirror, yet when I install it, if I get that far, it just opens a blank black window for around 5-10 secs then nothing happens?
Any chance someone can tell me what's going on please?
Thanks
Scott
It doesnt open for me either. Possibly a corrupt download, but i've tried 4 or 5 times from different mirrors, always same result.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
works without any problems? So it might be a broken file on download?

It sometimes opens somehow, but crashes after.
I removed it and installed some older version and it did work again.

This is an issue with Stellarium itself, not with the launcher. If I'm correct, I have a good workaround that I'd like to post later tonight. Keep watch in the beta testing forums.

Please excuse my impatience, but is your 'workaround' gonna be finished soon?
Thanks
Scott
Live for an ideal and leave no place in the mind for anything else.
In the meantime, you could just fix your path so there's no spaces in it since that's your error. If you install to the standard place (X:\PortableApps\Stellarium) it'll work fine.

Thankyou for your reply.
I thought that might be the problem, but for some reason windows won't let me change the folder name???
Also, I'm using these Apps on my laptop's D drive, do I need to remove spaces from that too - it's called ACER DATA (D:)
Is there any chance of this getting sorted in a future release?
Thanks
Scott

If it's a file lock, a quick reboot will sort it. If you can't even change the folder name, then you're having operating system issues and it's not something we can really help with.
The name of the drive doesn't matter.
The issue is that Stellarium itself doesn't support spaces in path names. The workaround is to use the standard install location: X:\PortableApps\StellariumPortable. The next version of our launcher will show a message that your path is unsupported and then close on each launch. If you'd like Stellarium to support spaces in a custom settings directory, you'd need to ask the Stellarium team to add that as a feature in their code.

Excellent that worked a treat, thanks

Neither the full version of Stellarium works on my Vista (which I tried to install months ago) nor the portable version (which I just tried). Works fine on XP, not on Vista. Very strange.
EDIT: Actually I think it has more to do with my video card than Vista. If I run it in 256-color mode it works fine.
Both of my computers are laptops.
Thanks, John. Your advice (deleting spaces from on-path folder names) saved another user from puzzlement and frustration ... and unlocked a pretty fine App!
