FlightGear

From my experience...FlightGear is an excellent program...but doesn't seem to work portably (and requires admin privs to install). I'd like to see a portable version of it made. (And I'm sure many others would also)

Program: FlightGear
License: GPL
Description: An open source advanced flight simulator (and more!)
Website: http://www.flightgear.org

Why: FlightGear is a HUGE program. I don't want to install it on every computer I want to use it at nor do I want to wait for the 225MB installer to download. And of course, I can't install it at all on limited accounts.

If I'm suppose to provide anything else, please ask. Thanks.

EDIT: I've noticed that there are other similar requests but none with a suitable response. If you are going to say something about its size...please don't. Most modern drives can store the program with ease.

I think that because its so

I think that because its so large, even with compression, it will run REALLY slow on the average flash drive. I think that if you wanted to run that app, you would have to get a REALLY fast flash drive or external harddrive to run the app. Why don't you give it a shot yourself?

Size =/= speed

I can run Deus Ex, a shooter based on Unreal Tournament '99, off my flash drive and the game runs fine, and portably it's about 600MB. The only problem is saving - it takes a few minutes.

What about Firefox Portable?

It worked fast when I first tried it out and now the folder is nearly 150MB and growing (I like to save my History) and it seems noticably slower then when i first got it.

addons and such. Plus the

addons and such. Plus the fact that 3 is noticeably slower then 2.

Oh, if you use tab mix plus, it slows it down a bit. I know because I noticed the lag. I decided I liked having the extension was worth waiting on the lag.

Too many bridges you can burn
Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world

NOT ADDONS

I have 3 addons and no themes on my FFP. I have no tab mix plus. I think firefox 3 is slower than when i first got it and it worked faster than my firefox 2. So I disagree.
