I use OOo Portable 3.0.0 on Win XP both from USB stick or hard drive. I thought it was not necessary that an extension is prepared to work together with a portable version, cause I further thought any registry and user directory access would be redirected to \OpenOfficePortable\... by OOo itself. But it seems as if I was mistaken.
At least http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/AltSearch won't install properly in Writer, and what's worse, it won't de-install correctly as well.
Does anyone have any experiences with the AltSearch extension on OOo Portable 3.0.0? Any suggestions on how to at least get rid of the extension? Any hints for manual installation or manipulation of the files in AltSearch.oxt or any alternatives that tend to work with Writer?
Thanks in advance.

What I did is: Search for AltSearch.oxt in \OpenOfficePortable and found traces propably of old installation tries, deleted \OpenOfficePortable\Data\settings\user\config\AltSearchScript.txt, opened \OpenOfficePortable\Data\settings\user\basic\dialog.xlc in an ascii editor and commented out the library call for AltSearch:
Installed AltSearch via extension manager and restarted Writer, done.
Hope this helps,
