I have several apps that launch from the Portable Apps launcher. One of them insists on starting in a window rather than full screen. If I were launching from an icon on my desktop, it would be a simple matter to fix this. But I don't know of any way to tell the Portable Apps menu to change the app to launch full screen.
Anyone have an idea? Thanks.
What apps are you trying to open "full screen"?
An app called Thinapps was used to make my old Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint portable. It's so that I can easily carry the essential apps with me when I travel. It's from the old Office 97, the last time Microsoft offered an office that wasn't all messed up .
Whats wrong with MS office 2000, 20003, or 2007? Or what about OpenOffice.org Portable?
I highly doubt you'll get any help on fixing a ThinApp. They are not created or supported here and depending on how you obtained it it may even be illegal (the exception being if you created it yourself). If you really need a portable office suite, check out OpenOffice.org Portable here. It provides all of the functionality of MS Office 97 and then some, and if you don't like the newer versions of Office, you'll appreciate the fact that the GUI is far less cluttered than Office '07.
Quamquam omniam nescio, nec nihil scio.
You know, I looked at Open Office and it's so slow, so cumbersome, I just can't get around some of the complexities. I am a legal owner of Office 97, as well as 2000 and 2003, so I don't have much in the way of guilt about creating a portable version of the older Office 97. It's very, very fast, does everything I need, etc.
In particular, the database in Open Office makes me crazy. There are so many oddities to it. I can use a spreadsheet for what I do, but Open Office lacks a feature that Excel has, the ability to create a form on screen for data entry (at least it isn't obvious to me how to do it), that it just isn't worth the hassle.
My portable Office 97 takes up about 30 meg of disk space -- much less than OO. It's just a better solution for me.
Thanks for the discussion.
The cheapest legal ThinApp license costs US$6,050. I doubt that you paid that.
ThinApp is very much frowned upon here: 99.9+% of stuff done with it is illegal, and a lot of it doesn't work properly anyway.
And illegal software has no place here at PortableApps.com, so this discussion should stop here.

If you wanted, you could make quick launchers with AutoIt3 that ran the program maximized. Tell you what, tell me where the files will be relative to the launchers (e.g. App\WordPortable.exe or WordPortable.exe) and I'll make them for you. And also tell me what all the files that you want to launch are. Thanks.
What a great offer!
The only program causing problems is Word.
In my install, the file is located in c:\portable\portableapps\off97pro\Microsoft Word.exe
This is great -- thanks!
Or one could be written in autohotkey as i believe scripts in ahk have less false positives than autoit scripts. So I guess "JeffNeedle" it's your pick, im sure if you ask nicely someone here could write you an ahk script that could do just this. Ahk or autoit, they should do they same thing but autoit might run into more trouble with virus scanners than a ahk one.

Yea, I could do either for him, I didn't know AutoIt scripts ran into trouble with virus scanners, got any links to corroborate?
I did a seach on the autoit forum and came up with these results.
