AbiWord: John, suggestion...

If at all possible, could you please make the next version of AWP not store the custom dictionary in %userprofile%\AbiSuite, and if that's not possible, try to convince the AbiWord developers to stop storing it there. That's the only barrier to true portability with AbiWord: custom dictionary entries get left behind on the host computer. I get tired of re-adding the same words to the dictionary on every computer I use--especially since the built-in dictionary doesn't recognize a lot of valid words, like "undiagnosed".

Didn't know about that

I actually didn't know about that as I haven't added any words to a portable install of it. Is it just that single custom.dic file? If so, I can have my launcher restore/backup/restore it.

Wish I knew about this before, but this is the first I heard of it. If it was a known issue, I would have fixed it for yesterday's release. Sad

I've known about it for quite some time, and I believe I mentioned it to you in one of the older posts here. But yes, it seems that the only thing in %userprofile%\AbiSuite is custom.dic. I've never seen AWP put anything else there.

Here's a link to the comment where I originally mentioned the issue:

Damn, forgot about that...

I should start using SourceForge's bug tracker. Or setup bugzilla.

I personally can't stand bug trackers. Sure, there's a chance bugs and suggestions will get ignored on the forums, but using a bug tracker just doesn't feel right to me... I feel like I'm "just a number" so to speak.

Edit: Notice how arrogant I was back then (referring to the old post I linked earlier). Looking at that post, I can't believe I actually ever posted something that condescending. I've gotten a lot better. Smile

I agree

However, how about a separate forum for bugs?
