Problem with Notepad++ Portable v 5.1.1

hi all,
i have a problem with my notepad++ portable application.
i installed it in a directory and i wanted to adjust my notepad++ default notepad application.
so i made some adjustments.
while doing this adjustments, when i changed Notepad++Portable.exe file's name to Notepad++.exe and double clicked on it i got an error which says 'Another instance of Notepad++ is already running. Please close other instances of Notepad++ before launching Notepad++ Portable.'
i controlled and there wasn't any other instances of Notepad++.
but the strange thing is, i didn't get any errors when it name was Notepad++Portable.exe.
when it name was Notepad++Portable.exe and when i double clicked on it, it works normally.

That's because it checks for a running instance of Notepad++.exe to determine if Notepad++ is running, so when you renamed it the launcher was detecting itself.

i know, but there is no

i know, but there is no Notepad++.exe instances running at that time.
i deleted all registry entries including Notepad++ and closed all running processes related to Notepad++ and restarted my PC and that error was still there.
the strange thing is that.

Itself

It's detecting itself. As soon as you run the renamed launcher, it see Notepad++.exe (itself) running. You can't open up portable apps (or any software, really) and begin doing random stuff like renaming EXEs and expect them to function properly.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Workaround

I am not sure whether you have a workaround; i changed the executable name and was able to launch NP++
