U3 LaunchPad installation problems

Hi,

I recently purchased a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 1GB with U3 technology. I accidentally deleted the installation (.exe) file in the drive, then struggled to find where to download it again but found it at http://u3.sandisk.com/download/lp_installer.asp.

Now, when I try installation it, the following error message appears:

'Launchpad installation failed!

Reformatting of the smart drive failed. The drive might be unusable. You might be able to recover by rerunning this installer.'

I have tried rerunning the installer, but alas to no avail.

It has a 5 year warranty, so do you think it's worth contacting SanDisk support directly or trying to get it replaced? Have I damaged it completely? Should the .exe file ever be deleted?

Many thanks in advance,
Dan

P.S. does anybody know what the small metal object which comes with this memory stick is for? Thanks.

Move this to Off-Topic

It's not one of John's U3 apps, so move it to Off-Topic or General.

Here for now

Leave it here for now. It's not really "other apps", so it's ok. I deleted your duplicate post.

I think

Ring up SanDisk support and get them to help you. If that doesn't work, they will give you instructions to get it replaced.
That's if it isn't an Indian call centre...
(No offence to Indians ;))

I'd rather see if I can get it fixed here first, which is why I'm asking. Smile

You Can't Reinstall

From my experience with U3. Once you delete the installer it cannot be reinstalled. It is something that is hard coded somehow with the software.
