Missing Accounts

Hi,

As a new user, I downloaded and setup Portable Thunderbird on my thumbdrive. I setup two accounts and downloaded some mail.

Now, I have my thumbdrive at home and the accounts I setup are gone. I did setup each account to use its own folder and not the local folders.

I am using the portable launcher version 1.1.4.1 and Thunderbird version 1.5.0.5.

My office machine has my thumbdrive set to letter F: and my home machine has my thumbdrive set to letter E:.

Thanks for you help in advance.

Remember, when using the ini

Remember, when using the ini for Fx and TB, make sure SkipChromeFix and SkipCompregFix are set to false when drive letters change. And I think Local Folders are on the USB drive, but I'm not sure. And you used the launcher, not thunderbird.exe, right?

Vintage!

What type?

IMAP or POP? Any extensions installed? Any other changes other that straight account setups (did you change any acct prefs)?

pop

In my version of this issue, I have set up two pop accounts with no extensions. Prefs changed to check at startup but defaults across the board otherwise.

Thanks for the assistance and sorry about the new thread.

Couple more ?s

Are you using a global inbox? Or individual ones (per account)? Do the accounts show up at all within Tools - Accounts? Also, send a copy of your prefs.js to the contact@ address here. You can find it within ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile

Side note: I wasn't able to duplicate the issue with IMAP, POP or POP w/ Global Inbox when switching directories/drives, so I can't think of what the problem may be offhand.

different problem

Actually I apparently have a different problem than I thought. When I just got back home and fired up PT on the computer that I set things up on, the boxes are still not there. I guess something went fubar with the drive. My boxes are still there so I know enough about tbird to install to a different flash drive and get my setup back.

Thanks for all your work with these apps. They really are amazingly handy.

Drive Issues

Drive issues happen more than people expect, and can show up as all sorts of random errors. Once you have an issue, I suggest pulling your data from the drive and then reformating it. Then drop your data back on. That fixes all logical errors on the drive (better than checkdisk will) and won't lose you any data.
