My Phone Explorer

Hello Everyone,

As a new user of PortableApps.com I have been very impressed in the quality and availability of programs. They have greatly improved my mobility and ability to do work "on the go." One program I feel could make a great addition to the line is "My Phone Explorer"

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/

With Portableapps.com Thunderbird/lightning I can change and update my google calendar where ever I may be but it would be nice to be able to sinc it with my mobile as well. Maybe there is something out there already that I have yet to find.

Thanks for the great program.

Non GPL

I use My Phone Explorer since 2006, the program is freeware but not open source... I thing that somebody can build a launcher but not portabilize the App.

BTW, this was posted before, please search before posting...

Regards.-

Works for me

Works for me.

Alas, that site just says what's new, not what the program actually does...

2011 Update: they put the program's features in the downloads' page. It's only for Sony Ericsson and Android mobile phones!

I Had a Launcher

I had a launcher for this way back when I had my Ericsson. If there's enough interest I can try to dig it up or even redo it quickly, as I know it's a great little program.

My Phone Explorer Portable

Didn't anybody notice that the latest version of My Phone Explorer has this feature of making this application portable at the very beginning of its installation?!
Download it from the developer' site and see what I mean!

Didn't you notice that you're replying a two years old post?

This feature of making the application portable at the very beginning of it installation is very new, so new that is available now in the latest version and it wasn't available back in 2009 when this post was active.

BTW, you should also read at the My Phone Explorer website that this option is not totally functional in comparison with the installed one. For example,in portable mode you can sync with Google Contacts and Outlook but not with Portable Thunderbird which is why we requested this app two years ago.

Only one kind of phone?

Am I reading that site right or does it only work for one kind of phone? I haven't even heard of SonyEriccson having any new phones lately. Something like that that works with the Motorola RAZR/ROKR line would be pretty sweet. There's Mobile Phone Tools, but that doesn't support these phones, probably because you can do most everything MPT says it can do manually. Like I can use Audacity to make ringtones, XnView to make wallpapers, and Windows Explorer to put them in the appropriate folders. A pretty interface would be cool (but of course not really necessary).

In defense of MPE

My Phone Explorer is for Sony Ericcson (SE) phones only, but the fact that you don't know a new version of this brand doesn't mean that does not exist... and My Phone Explorer (MPE) is not for ringtones and that kind of stuff (which I don't consider important) it is for sync contacts data and administer your sms without the need of Outlook... in fact MPE works very well with Mozilla's Tunderbird (TB), even with the Portable version.

BTW, SE is the second most used cellphone brand in my part of the world (Latin America), the first one is Nokia, according to the site we all use to be informed about this kind of stuff... At least in Venezuela, SE have 8 new phones, Nokia have 4... Motorolla have 2... but in Latin America, the most sold phones currently are SE, Nokia and RIM (blackberry)... the only person I know that still uses Motorolla is my father Wink

There is a TB addon to sync Nokia and MPE to sync with SE... with that you already covered half the Latin American market... and Latin America is the second (after China) faster expanding cellphone market in the world...

I consider that a Motorolla tool is also needed but that doesn't mean that a tool for SE should be ignored.

That's why I think this is a must have.
