I've been happily using PA on a 1GB Cruzer drive for a good few months now and I love it but I've installed quite a bit of stuff on there which has gobbled up the space so I bought a new, bigger drive - an 8GB Kingston Datatraveller which arrived today.
I took to the website, downloaded the basic suite (as I planned on copying and pasting all the apps from my 1GB drive) and it installs fine but then when I try to run it, it generates an error - the usual Windows guff and tells me to either send or not send an error report.
Formatted the drive and tried again. Same issue.
Formatted the drive again and copied all the contents over from the old drive to the new one - now won't even run! When I double click to launch the platform it just... hangs for a few seconds, opens a DOS window and then does nothing at all.
Again, formatted and tried again but nothing.
Now... could this be due to the size of the drive? The file system used because it's too big for FAT and therefore using FAT32.
Other than that, I'm stumped - I've done everything exactly the same but dunno why it won't work and hope some of you kind gents can help me as I really do need this for work.

Now when I'm trying to format the drive in Windows (XP SP3) - it appears to complete but then says that it was unable to complete the format so I have to format it via DOS which works fine, I can put data onto the drive, take it off, etc...
What the hell?!
This sounds like a drive or system issue. If you can't even properly format it in Windows, it's one or the other. Try formatting it on another machine... if it works, something is up with your PC. If not, you have a bad drive.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Tried formatting on 3 different PC's and all give the same problem unless you run it through DOS/CMD.
The more I'm looking into it, looks like I have a bum drive - it shows up as being a Hisun Flash Drive USB device and not a Kingston. I've contacted the seller, gonna contact Paypal too once I run a Bart's Stuff test on it to see what the actual capacity is and then get my money back.
I got bitchslapped, thank god it was only £12.
EDIT: Definately dodgy, it's a 4GB drive.
Don't buy flash drives through eBay, classifieds or other 3rd party sellers. A huge chunk of them are fake.

I got screwed a while back buying a 64GB Kingston drive off of Amazon. Any files put on the drive became corrupted almost immediately. Amazon is generally reputable, but not all of their sellers are, as I learned the hard way (that's what I get for being cheap). Next time I'm buying direct from Amazon.
Also, beware with Kingston drives--there's more counterfeit Kingstons out there than any other drive. Seeing a counterfeit 8GB drive is still shocking though, seeing as you can pick them up for just over $20 just about anywhere.
take the stick and try to mount it on a linux machine. If this has QT-parted, nice you can try with that to reformat it.
But most probably in your case, it will first tell you it can not do anything with it since the *partition is virtual* only.
In such case try to delete the partition completely, if it refuses to do it, then download the G-parted CD iso file and burn it to CD. Boot your PC from this and delete first all partitioning with it.
Then you can partition it either with G-parted or also under windows.
And if this fails, well yes then you have one of the 'fake via controller' items. Have one which is persistently claiming 16gb, but is only 4gb in fact. Was a gift , someone bought it in e- and was so happy to get it soooo cheap.

Damn, my last flash drive was 4GB, a Corsair Readout, and I paid what Google says is the equivalent of £7. Shipped. From Newegg.com, but I'm not sure if they sell to the UK. Probably cost you more that way. Here, anyway (mostly because of Newegg) prices are so cheap, there's almost no point in looking in the shadier corners of the Internet for good deals on flash drives.
