No, this software can be portable

... you have just to have .Net Framework installed in your host computer.

....which by definition means

that it isn't actually portable.

Many host computers still do not have .NET - especially those found in public places, such as cafes, libraries, etc. where most people use portable apps.

Because of this, at the PortableApps.com website, .NET applications are considered NOT to be portable.

Isn't .NET already present of

Isn't .NET already present of Windows XP SP2 and later?

Once Windows 2000 will officially be on end-of-support, we might consider .NET application as portable, since (almost) everybody will meet this requirement?

Anyway, most portable softwares are still dependent on the OS they are designed for, unless it's a portable OS itself.

I guess we could put a warning saying this requires .NET to be available on the host system?

Vista only

The only consumer Windows OS with .NET included right now is Vista. Every other Windows OS including Windows XP SP3 requires an administrator to manually select to have the .NET framework installed. More info is here:

No, but..

No, I'm no longer working on it, but I've packaged some open-source apps written in .net into portable apps for my personal use. If you want, I can upload them and give you links

Java and net framework or other component?

If app request java is portable, okay today portableapps.com was create it but is no portable component. Is will create temp or files at host computer. Not all component installed to other people. This app can be portable if host computer have installed. And if host computer no installed is can be portable if you put file component into portability like java. Anyway app portable is no create files at host and registry if app close. Net framework is can't to portability and is core system. Also is no open source!

Andibad, i interesting about this portable app website and great can save all file to my flashdisk 2-8 gb and no file in host computer, i like that.
