How to start PortableApps over the U3-launchpad?

Hello,

I'm new to U3/PortableApps.com and I really like what you're doing! Espacially because I can use some of your apps or ideas for the BartPE-project on which I'm working also...

I've found nothing using the forum-search, so maybe one of you guys can tell me how I can start some PortableApps like ClamWin Portable over the U3-launchpad from my Kingston-U3-USB-stick?

I only found out how I can add U3P-files to the startup-panel - but how to add your selfextracing EXE-files?

Thanks a lot for any help and keep on your good work

Hmm..

Not sure what you mean by "add your selfextracing EXE-files", but read this thread. Hope this helps.

@Lurk

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for - but unfortunately it won't start on my PC Sad

I get this error-message:

Do you have an idea, what went wrong? BTW, german .NET-framework is installed...

Best regards

Well, 2 things could be...

1. You got a corrupted download. I suggest downloading it again and see if it works. Also you could try another pc to see if it works there.
2. The .net installation on your pc is corrupted in someway. As the program is saying it cannot initialize, it could be anything from the prog itself to the .net install it is trying to use.
Try it on another pc and see waht happens.

If you redownload and it works, great. Your all set. If you tryit on another pc and it fails, probalby a bad download, write the author and ask for another download link. If it does work on another pc, reinstall .net and see if that fixes it, if it doesn't then there is somethin within your os, it doesn't like. and there is not much more we can do, as we do not know your pc setup.

Also, try on different Operating Systems to see it if does anything different.

Post back with your results and we will see what we can do.

...

I'd say a corrupted .NET installation. 0xC0000135 is "cannot locate DLL," and that particular dialog box only comes up when an executable crashes while the OS is loading it. It's apparently not even getting past .NET initialization, otherwise the program would have thrown a .NET exception, not a low-level initialization error.

Shame on me...

@Bruce
@Deuce

You both were right - it was (not a missing but a not installed) .NET-framework *shame*

I had installed the .NET 2.0 Compact(!) framework for my PPC, not for my PC!

Sorry guys, but thanks anyways for your help.

Best regards

you don't run the self

you don't run the self extracting file... that's just for distribution. You need to extract the files and then just run "FirefoxPortable.exe" or whichever app you've got.

You don't need to use U3. Any memory stick will do. Grab a copy of PStart and you're away.

Go to the downloads section

Go to the downloads section of this site and get the new version of PStart. The new PStart can be downloaded as either a regular program or as a U3 compliant one. I now have PStart installed on my U3 stick and set so that it runs while the U3 Launcher is coming online. All I do now is to install non-U3 compliant programs in the PStart launcher. Runs like a charm!!
