Is it possible to change the height of the Main Window?
It's about 400x570 pixels and I have a rather long App-List
that does not fit into it. (without scrolling)
Since my screen/s is/are fairly huge 
why not increase the height a bit?

Unfortunately it's not possible. Nor I don't think John will implement the feature, Think of it this way, You have the windows start menu, You pin a lot of apps to the menu, You can't access much of them as the menu can only enlarge up so high to accommodate for the apps but still some of the apps you pinned can't be accessed.
The Platform was designed for ease of access so that all apps can be accessed by using the scroll function on the mouse or by clicking on the arrows within the app.

I'm using Asus EeePC 701. It has 7" display (800x480). So Main menu is larger than my screen, and top of the Menu always is hidden. May be it is possible to add some command or checkbox in "Settings" where we can change the height of the main window (it can be for example "Fit to screen height")? Or, maybe, not in "Setings" but only in "PortableAppsMenu.ini" file?
In an upcoming release, you'll be able to cut the menu down to show only 10 apps instead of 20, which will save you room. A custom theme to do so will be included directly with the platform.

I have PA 1.6 on a Vaio P-series netbook with 768 pixel height screen, and the top of the menu is not visible/accessible as far as I can tell (Win7). If that option is available, how is it accessed/activated?

Releases of the menu typically take a very long time.
I would suggest finding an alternate solution.
There are other portable launchers out there that can be resized.

768 or even 600 pixels high is EXTREMELY common for portable PC's - has been for a long time, and likely to be for a long time to come (tablets are even shorter unless used in a portrait mode, which might get 800 pixels...). How could such a basic feature be left out? Was all development done on great big monitors?
What I will likely do is create a folder in the PA structure with shortcuts for each app I want to access, and then copy that (or its own shortcut) to the desktop, and use that as a crude launcher. That leaves out the control functions, but at least those will typically show up in the lower half of what I can see on 600-768 pixels.

The menu is only 573px in height. On a small netbook with an 800x600 or 1024x600 screen, it fits fine as long as you have the Windows taskbar set to autohide (which makes sense with such limited real estate). Even without autohide, just the PA.c logo on the top of the menu should be cut off. On a 1024x768 screen, it'll fit just fine.

… you can do this (and some other interesting things) in geek.menu – an ancient fork of the Portableapps.com menu (which still is the one I prefer).
I have had this problem on at least a half dozen different PC's in the last year or so, and usually with fresh installations. Just had it tonight to a lesser degree with the "light" 1.6 installation on a Fujitsu U810 Lifebook with 1024x600 screen. I could see most of the apps this time, but not quite the top of the list. Is this affected by the icon text setting? I usually bump that up from the default 8 to 11 or 12 for these tiny screens.

It's not just a text setting. That setting is designed for large, high-resolution screens with higher than usual pixel density. So setting the DPI up means that things are supposed to appear larger to compensate. Look at the 'preview' in Windows 7 as you change it. So, the whole form gets much bigger and winds up cutoff, as will many apps. A 1024x600 screen with text set at Medium (125%) you basically have a 819x480 screen. At Large (150%) it's basically a 682x400 screen.
In an upcoming release, having the form resize as it is supposed to (according to the Windows interface guidelines) will be optional. There's currently no GUI option for it, but there will be an INI option for it shortly.
