The Mana World unable to select gender

I'm finding that I am unable to change the gender selection when setting up a character in The Mana World Portable. I am able to create only male characters. Is this unique to The Mana World Portable, or a bug in other, non-portable versions? Anyone else experience this problem?

This is not a bug specific to

This is not a bug specific to the portable version, that for sure. Do you already have any other characters on the same account? You cannot mix male/female characters on the same accounts, its all male or all female. If you want to change your gender (that means, the gender of ALL characters on that account), there are some NPC's who can do this, there is one in the northern part of Hurnscald if I remember correctly.

No this was my first account

No this was my first account and first character ever. I've never used the non-portable version before. When I first logged on and was creating the character, I could not change the male/female setting no matter what did clicking. I finally gave up and left it male.

Weird..... never had this

Weird..... never had this before, but then again I never tried to be female. You can use one of the gender changing NPC's though to chance your gender to female, if you want. I know there is one that can do that in the snow town, and I'm pretty sure there is one in the northern part of the town in which you start too.

Edit: Its just been brought to my attention that gender is a account setting, not a character setting. This means you pick your gender when creating the account, not when creating the first character. This is probably what caused the problem for you Wink
