Garbled Menus After upgrade

Upgraded to the latest OO Portable and now, though OO will open, all the menus are missing and garbled. I'd attached a screen shot but haven't found the trick to doing this.

To resolve I tried an additional download and upgrade. No joy so I tried manually removing the old and installing fresh. Still no luck.

Ideas?

TIA,

Al

Fixed the problem?

I was having the exact same problems with my installation. I had created a PortableApps folder on my desktop and was installing the applications to be transferred at a later time. I could never get the menus to appear correctly. I downloaded the app 4 or 5 times, both as a single app and as a suite. Same problem every time. After reading some posts, I can up with a solution:

Instead of creating a folder on my desktop, I created a folder on my C drive. So instead of C:\Documents and Settings\some user\Desktop\Transfer\PortableApps, I now use C:\PortableApps

This fixed the problem! And since I just copy the PortableApps folder to my jumpdrive, X:\PortableApps, the path stays short. Many of the posts that I read stated that the OpenOffice suite doesn't like long pathways... go figure!

Hope this helps. It worked for me, I hope it works for you.

on which operating system?

the new open office does not support ansi chars afaik, so it depends on your operating system if themenus arre there. On w98 for example the menus will be probably missing to most extend.
