Java Portable Launcher 1.0 has been released by PortableApps.com. Java Portable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs from your PortableApps.com-enabled device with Java Portable installed. While it doesn't portablize their settings directly, it does work with any self-contained JAR that stores settings alongside itself or allows its settings to be saved to a portable location. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.

Features
Java Portable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs using the Java Virtual Machine installed on your PortableApps.com-enabled device using Java Portable. It can be installed into the PortableApps.com Menu where, when it is run, it will prompt you to select a JAR file to run. It can also be run directly by dragging and dropping a JAR file onto the JavaPortableLauncher.exe file.
Java Portable Launcher does not portablize the settings of your Java programs within JAR files. Some JAR apps will either store their settings alongside the JAR or provide an option to store the settings portably, though.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Java Portable Launcher is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.
Download
Java Portable Launcher is available for immediate download from the Java Portable Launcher homepage. Get it today!

Problem with Download
John:
I think SourceForge is having a problem with the link. When I click on the link I get a sourceforge page with the message
Error 500
We're sorry but we weren't able to process this request
Hopefully it will get cleared up soon.
SF Upgrade
There is a SourceForge interface upgrade going on all day today so there will be sporadic problems.
inquiry
how can one change the default directory it's looking for java in? (for those of us who never install portable apps with the default directory structure.)

Has anyone done this, I just tried to use this and I get that error, but I do have JavaPortable, where does it need to go? I have:
Flashdrive:
Java
JavaPortableLauncher
Normal paths
Use the normal paths. Then it's not an issue. You could try CommonFiles\Java, that should work.
Error on startup
Java Portable Launcher cannot be started. You may want to reinstall to fix this issue. (ERROR: Java Portable [PortableApps.com/JavaPortable] could not be found)
Java Portable
You have to install Java Portable first.
Quick note
While testing I found that associating JARs to the Java Portable Launcher with CAFE Mod produced this exact same error.
WFM
Dragging and dropping a JAR onto the launcher works fine.
