Hi
I have a strange problem. I have knocked together a FFP archive what I always first download in Internet Cafes from my homepage. I have made minor changes in options, installed 6 extensions, deleted DOM inspector, added some search engines, deleted some, and so on.
From the release date of 1.5.0.6 on it went always good, but since yesterday I see only the splash screen and nothing more. If I try to start FFP again, it says, there is already an instance running, so it stucked. The strange thing is, that ist does not work on ANY computer now (testet it on at least 5). I have not made any changes in the archive, so the big question is, what can it be or how can I find the bug?

If you have the CompregFix and ChromeFix enabled (enabled by default without ini, needed when drive letter changes), it may take quite a while, especially on a slower computer. If the splash screen appears, Firefox is loading. And remember that it takes longer if extensions or themes are being installed or uninstalled.

Well, you can belief me. When I write it stucked, then it stucked. Maybe it helps, if I say, the splash screen disappears, before it hangs. I can kill the process, but I can't see Firefox.
Meanwhile I built another package from a fresh FirefoxPortable as I did it before, and it works, but I guess, that hang will reoccur after a while, because the archive is exact itentical except the date of snapshot.
Maybe I should turn back my system time to see, if it is definitely that kind of problem.

When FFp hangs on me like this, it's usually after a profile transfer or I've just added a buch of extensions and the like. Try going into your profile folder and deleting the extensions.rdf file. It will be recreated on your next launch of FFP.
Another thing that helps is giving the firefox.exe that is called by the launcher a higher (but not the highest!) system priority through the task manager (right-click>set priority). I have been able to do this on restricted user accounts by carrying my own around. (Try Process Explorer)

After one hour playing with my system time I figured it out.
It is the Dictionary Tooltip 0.9.1 extension.
I don't know why, but after you have installed and activated this extension, you can't start Firefox, when it has not started for more than one week. That means you have to start Firefox at least every 7th day to keep it working.
Not to mention, that I have dicarded this extension from my snapshot archive.
